'Cuda (That Says It All)

The story of this car starts with a tired 74 440 Dart that served Nick well, having run a final best of 10.55 before finally lying down for good.
With the Dart too beat up to continue service, it was time to find a new home for the killer drivetrain.
Enter Nicks good friend Jeremy.
Jeremy acquired this 69 Cuda when he was 15, did a total restoration, and kept it in the garage for the next 12 years.
It didnt take long for Nick to talk Jeremy into a joint project and soon after, the transformation began.
With a basically perfect car to start with, they immediately started to upgrade the Cuda to 11 second status.
A stock A-body rear holds onto 29.5 x 11.5 MT slicks and is bolted to inboard SS springs. It houses a 35 spline spool and axles, and Richmond 4.10's.
The 727 contains Alto Red clutches, Kevlar bands, a bolt-in sprag, and a Cheetah reverse manual body. All this is spun by a 4200 stall Dynamic converter.
Nick offers much thanks to Dennis from Wildcat Auto Wrecking for providing lots of help with the trans build-up.

Under the, er, between the fenders we now find a 440 block thats been bored .030 and decked .060. The forged crank hangs onto stock LY rods using ARP bolts and TRW forged dome pistons squeeze the mix to 11.30:1.
The heads are ported Stage 6's that hold big valves and Harland Sharp rockers. The cam was ground by Nick himself when he worked for Super Shops, and features .600" lift and 276 dur. @.050.
An Offy tunnel ram was chosen for that retro look and a 1050 Dominator ensures the cylinders will get filled.
At the other end, Hooker Super Comps turn into 3.5" tubes which run into the Flowmaster Top 10 mufflers, and then on to 4" side exits.

Without a cage, the first outing was kept to the 1/8 mile to stay under 11.99.
However, the last run of the day he let 'er go and ripped off an 11.12 @ 121 with spinning tires and a 1.65 60'
Earlier in the day he also managed a 1.59 60' with spinning tires as well.
Once traction problems are solved, we may see 10's....

Heres another great example of what this hobby is all about. A couple of friends permanently sharing their stuff to go fast and have fun.
