Nines, Naturally

Bill Casner is the owner of this wild '73 Duster.
Using a no-nonsense approach, he built himself a car that could easily make most of us jealous.

Bill started by adding CE weld-in subframe connectors and a 6-point bar, which he later updated to its current 12-point status. Next he called S&W Race Cars, who supplied him with rear framerails and steel wheel tubs.
A 4.30 geared Dana holds a Strange spool and Moser axles, and is firmly bolted to a set of leaf springs with an upper link bar.
JFZ/Sierra disk brakes and HAL Stocker Star shocks are at all 4 corners and Pheonix 14 x 32's are mounted on Monocoque wheels at the back.
The front wheels have been limited considerably to control wheelstands.

Housed in this quaint looking engine compartment is much more than meets the eye.
The 451 of last year was tossed in favor of the ultimate...a 522" Indy Maxx shortblock.
Lube comes from a Milodon single line swinging oil system with a Charlies' aluminum pan.
Comp Cams provided the 650" 324 dur. solid cam which runs the valves in a set of fully ported Indy 440-1 heads.
An Indy intake holds a 1050 Dominator on top that feeds Purple Sunoco into the 14.55:1 compression holes.
It's fired by an MSD 7-AL and a Hamberger Crank Trigger.
Stahl 2 1/8" x 38" headers get rid of the fumes in a hurry.
The fuel system consists of a Mallory 250 pump and 4 port return style regulator with -8 lines and a 12 gal. cell.
Originally, Bill used a 727 with a brake, but, in a effort to tame the wheelstands, switched to a 'glide with a brake.
To date, the Duster has run a best of 9.377 @ 143.67
The car is a bracket-only affair and has won three track championships at Muncie Dragway.
2001 was Bill's best year yet, showing 3 wins, 4 runner-ups, and 3 semifinals netting him $7700.

No Frills, Big Thrills, Extra cash....We should all have it this good :)
