That sounds about right to me...others may disagree. I put a piece of 1/4" plate under my mounts(for oil filter clearance) and ended up with 5* down on trans output shaft. My pinion shaft is 2* up....
I used 'Nut-serts' in the frame rails. No extra reinforcement was used. The threaded inserts were from McMaster-Carr industrial supply. No mid-plate, just stock trans mount. Most people use some type...
