Trophy Class Duster

Jesse Furr, of WoodBridge, Virginia bought this solid, but stripped '72 Duster in '94 with a Slant 6 and 19,000 original miles.
Since then, his mission was to create a show winning car that was just as much fun to drive as
it was to look at.
He's definitely succeeded. Driven from his home in Virginia to the the Carlisle, PA fairgrounds, he placed 1st in A-body Modified at the 2002 All-Chrysler Nationals.
The exceptionally solid body required nothing more than a sail panel and paint to be on it's way to glory.

To get his future power to the ground, Jesse installed 3 relocation kit and SS springs, which firmly contain the 8.75 rear and 3.55 SG unit. A 6 point bad and frame connectors were added to stiffen things up. CenterLine wheels hold 295/50/15 Dunlops in the rear and 205/60/15's in the front.
The stock front suspension was rebuilt with poly bushings and employs the factory Kelsey-Hayes disk brakes.
Schumacher conversion mounts and torque strap were installed
in preparation for the great things to come.

Interior upgrades include new upholstery and carpet,Grant wheel, a hand-made center console, and custom dash panel to hold the new Autometer gauges. A B&M Pro-Stick puts Jesse in touch with the 727.
The rest of the driveline was built to warrior specs, starting with a .030 440 block. A steel crank swings stock rods and KB 10:1 pistons below the 906 heads, which were outfitted with 2.14/1.88 valves for added breathing. Adjustable rockers work with an MP 484/282 cam, brething through an Edelbrock RPM intake and 825 RaceDemon carb. Indy-modified Hedman 2" fenderwell headers expel the fumes into 3" full length exhaust. Maximum cooling was needed for street duty, so completely new components were used.
Summit hoses and flexfan work around the March underdrive pulleys and a Be-Cool alum. radiator takes care of the heat with ease.
Behind this beast lies a rebuilt 727, featuring a B&M shift kit and 3200 TA converter.
As modified muscle car classes gain popularity, it's increasingly difficult to place without an all-out effort.
Jesse's attention to detail is evident throughout the car, with polished or plated items everywhere you look. Except for the block and heads, the entire engine is polished, from the Demon carb all the way down to the working cut-outs under the car. The polished panels under hood were custom made by Jesse and are a perfect mirror finish.
Indeed, first place is a no-brainer for a car like this.
