Whats the engine size in the car? Does it have a power booster? Have you gone through the brakes? When was the last time you bled the brakes? Kevin383

Are they nine inch drums? If they are that's you problem. I have a 68 Barracuda that had 9 inchers that would not stop. Dave

If they are drums, just remember that self-adjusting brakes will only self-adjust when everything is working properly. That means replacing ALL of the hardware when doing a brake job; including the cables and adjusters. That stuff wears out pretty quick.

Did you already check things like oil on the shoes, brake fluid on the shoes, etc? If you've got leaky wheel cylinders, that doesn't do much for stopping power.
