64 Auto trans - tailshaft

Im going to a later 904 with a 318.  Can I use either the long tailshaft or short tailshaft 904?   I need to get a driveshaft either way.....

I'd say the short tailshaft.

u can change the neutral start switch 1 to the other, u can use the old 1 pin in the newer trans, no problem, but when u go the other way the back up lights will be on in drive also, so u would have to change the valvebody linkage in the trans, which is not a big deal.................oldkimmer.
