« on: October 16, 2006, 12:49:25 PM »

Hello

These maybe  dumb questions.

What is the purpose of the Differential Pinion Thrust Spacers used in a 8-3/4" rearend?

Where do they go and what is the best way to install them?

Thanks for any responses

They set pinion preload and go between the pinion stem and the bearing

The trust spacer is used for tappered axle bearings (factory). There is an adjuster on one axle only and the trust spacer transfers the preload to the other bearing. When you use non-adjustable green bearings on your axle you can leave the spacer out.
