72 dart wheel location
« on: November 12, 2006, 03:25:06 PM »

i was windering if anyone coulld help me out.  i have been in the procees of installing a 2x3 box chassis in my dart.  i have lost my info sheets on where the wheels should be located in reference to body.  since i have cut rear quarters and removed all sheet metal execpt the door sills, roof and
quarters.  the easiest measurement would be from front of quarter panel at door  to center line of rear end and to center line of front spindle.
this would a great help.
thanks

I took a quick look at my son's 72 Swinger in the pictures below and here are the measurements that I think are close to what your asking for.

From the gap between the back edge of the door and the front edge of the quarter panel, to the middle of the center cap of the rear wheels, is 37 inches.

From the same gap between the rear edge of the door and the front edge of the quarter panel, to the middle of the center cap on the front wheels, is 74 & 1/8 inches.

I used the center caps of the wheels as a reference point, because it should be the same measurement as from the center of the rear axles and front spindles, whithout me having to remove the wheels and tires.

I hope this is the information your looking for and good luck on your Dart.  Wink Cool

Remember caster will slightly change the measurement in the front. Richard, it's a good thing your numbers add up to 111".............................
