Thanks to this post and FredDart I got my .920 torsion bars today  from the Dodge dealer today. They list for $180cnd and the clips and boots are $28nd .I was really happy with this as $300usd plus shipping and exchange and duty fees would have cost me close to $400 or more .I can get the springs for $250cnd super stock or $220cnd for the performance ones.Good I can go get them at the dealer and there is no shipping or exchange or frigin around . I ordered mine on 12-1 also, guess I'll be getting that notice, too. Not a bad thing since I just "won" some 1.04's off Ebay.

Came across this while searching for some other parts, looks like there might be some good deals here that you might want to check on.

  I ordered my 1.090 bars from manciniracing.com and they charged me 27.47 for shipping explode  I cant believe it!  I used all of there demensions for shipping and the shipping company they use WITH insurance and delivery conf. and it came out to 19.02 so I am pretty pissed at them to say the least! But I am glad I saw this thread before the bars went up to 290.00 per set thank you

I think Mancini overcharges for shipping. They charged me something like $15 shipping for two leaf spring bushings awhile back.

I just recieved .960 E body bars from summit $149.99 plus shipping. Grin The  .920  bars  $299.99. I figure it is not original anyway, I take the better handling and $150 I saved. Thanks for the post. They are probably wondering why the rush on torsion bars. Huh

   Let me know if your bars are green! I cant find my camera to take pics,but I will next week.  Also with the bars they have light scratches in them and the paint is a bit clumpy in arear,is this ok? I am new to the whole torsion bar thing,and I want to be sure!

                                                                                    thank you

paint don't matter, as long as there are no deep gouges in the steel your ok... that may come back to haunt as a weak spot...

I had .920" bars in a '72 Dart with a 318, manual everything, no A/C. I loved the ride, but it was ever so slightly on the harsh side.

Would .990" bars in a '72 Dart with a 451, manual everything, aftermarket A/C be about the same ride? Harsher? Softer?

I'd like to get the .990" bars since they're cheaper, but I was thinking about going with the .920 bars. How much of a difference is there?

A question that I have is what are the spring rates?  I have checked out firm feel's web site and they list the "rate" but for some reason it just doesn't seem right.  Are these in numbers in psi.  Does a "270" rate on a torsion bar design act like "270" on a coil-over design?  Just some questions that I have been itching to ask? I am building a NASA HPDE car (Down the road and American Iron Challenge car) and knowing the rates would help my build up bunches. Thanks.  (oh and if this is a noob question send me in the right direction)

How do I tell they are the 1.090 bars?

453 should be stamped on the end of the bars. (Mopar part# P5249154)

A question that I have is what are the spring rates?

Found this somewhere else on the web...

"The bars in the MP catalog for the "A" body cars goes like this:

1.140" = 350 lbs = 1400 lbs coil rate
1.090" = 300 lbs = 1200 lbs coil rate
1.040" = 250 lbs = 1000 lbs coil rate
.990" = 200 lbs = 800 lbs coil rate
.920" = 150 lbs = 600 lbs coil rate"

The coil rate is higher because they act on the control arm requiring a higher rate to give the same suspension action, whereas our t bars act on the pivot point requiring less force for the same action.

well that certainly blows, guess it goes with the snooze you lose thing.  I'm guessing that 1.09's would be intirely too stiff for a all Iron SB car?  with that price hike Bills RMS kit keeps looking better.
