R/T

I am wondering about a certain mystery/holy grail type of car that has haunted me for years . For a period of time I lived next door to this kinda Dark horse ex military kinda guy that had a shop full of cool cars but In the back of the shop he had what appeared to be a 67 coronet R/T . I remember him saying it was NOT a coronet but simply an R/T . He said It was an original hemi 4spd car but the motor was gutted when he bought the car way back when . It had the original 18spline 4spd, dana rear, mounts setup for a hemi but no hemi . It was black ,2dr and has haunted me to want mopars ever since . Is it possible I looked over a rare car I know will never be seen at a show or in a magazine, kinda sad cause I would love to see it get some coverage. I know it's the real deal but it's dishearting to know I will never look at it again . I just wanted to hear some other people with similar stories of lost or locked away forever rare cars . Maybe someone in wash knows of this car ?

well if it was an R/T anything its pretty rare in itself...as far as i know R/T is not a car its an option for a car... like the SS for chebbies...so it had to be an R/T somthin...coronet, charger, challenger..it had to be more than just an R/T

ok in 67 the coronet R/t was the sister for the plymouth GTX....base engine was the 440 magnum[first year for hp manifolds, magnum cam]...and the only other option was the hemi....the hemi's were the rare one's...the 440 car's they made over 5000's...still very cool...as far as story's go......living in alberta as everyone knows or not was the highest hemi car per capita in the world[oil money]....so my dad being a mopar man basickly all his friends,or friends of friends either has a cool hemi car or had one.......so growing up i guess i was priveledged to see all these extremly rare car's and going for ride's in them not really knowing how rare they really were...hemi gtx convert one auto...another guy had a four speed x convert.....68 ss barracuda.....67ss coronet...66hemi cornet..67hemi cornet....one guy i know has 15 winged cars's what a sight to see........ underneath of a aluminum nosed 64 race hemi car very cool....on and on...

When I was a kid my buddy's brother had a new 67 and it was refered to as the R/T. It was the first year of that option and I believe the coronet was the only model to have it. I don't think the Charger was available with the R/T designation until 68.
