In reality we all put these cars together either for the fun of it or the investment factor. Myself i think the mopar brand is a good investment and hope if i have to get rid of one they will at least bring what i have in em. I'll give you the discription of the cars i have and put the price i think they should bring and the price you fell they would sell for should you have to sell itr tomorrow. Remember an auction is the best way to determine fair market value on any given day. Give us three prices, 1) description of car 2) cost to build 3) estimated value 4) price if you sold it tomorrow.
My cars: 63 Ford Princess Grace T Bird Very nice E.V $18000 FMV $8000 73 440 Duster Cost $10000 E.V. $15000 FMV $6000 72 318 HP Duster Cost $12000 E.V. $18000 FMV $$7000

I paid $700 for my '67 Barracuda back in 1984 with fresh upholstery and new tires (that I burned off very quickly). Now over the last year and a half since I started the "transfomation" I've got a folder full of receipts and it's still not done, but reguardless the car is priceless to me, I could never sell it. My GTX I got a pretty good deal on and could flip it for a few bucks more than I paid for it if I needed to and the same with my Chally, especially once I get the Hemi in it.

68 GTS convertible partially disassembled, but runs $15k 67 Barracuda fastback complete (383/727 not original), just sold $10k 67 Barracuda convertible rough /6 runs $6k (not what I paid for it) 67 Dart GT convertible needs cosmetics, but mostly straight and runs good (440/4sp) $12k
I believe those are fiar market prices for those cars in the condition they are in. The Barracuda convertible will get a 383/727 transplant and cosmetic resto. Jeff's GT convertible with get a completed cosmetic resto, as will the GTS. The fair market value of them upon completion given today's values should be as follows: GTS $35k GT convert $18k Barracuda convert $15k

76 Dart Sport paid $600CDN for the shell, on the road with a 383-4speed for $5,000CDN (give or take) what it WAS worth? Probably 6-8K US....I got a lot of screamin' deals on parts....free BB bell, rims/tires for $250, etc so it cost me considerably less to build. If I sold it tomorrow? I'd be doing good to get $1000, and chances are whoever bought it would part it out if anything. I wrecked it and it's not fixed yet.

I've grown up around drag racing, as we built all of our cars from the ground up, and if there's one thing I've learned about building the kind of cars we build, is that you will never get your money back for it I've seen racecars that people poured $20k+ and god knows how many man hours of work into sell for $7k or less.

I have a high mileage 72 duster thst solid and has a slant six,i paid $3500 canadian for it and it has one little rust hole the size of a golf ball in the floor and the rest is awesome. Some guys may figure thats too much but steel is worth more than rust to me as i dont need body work hassles.I have converted the front to lrge bolt pattern so far and have welded in subframe connectors, like that i could probably get what i paid.If i threw in the 440 i have for it(stock mid 70s...stock so far!)and the whte leather buckets i have for it...oh and the a body 8.75 rear i would want $4000 and could get it...anyone else get those notes under your wiper asking to sell? Oh ya...its not for sale

You know that your car (or whatever we are selling ) is always worth more to you than anyone else! What is the true value of my junk ? Hmmm....I probably (ok did but don't want to be reminded) paid too much for my car .$3000 cnd /6 Clifford set up great frame needs floor pans trunk pans etc... But try and find one in my area very hard and they would probably all need floor pans and such. Now it sits on a rotisserie not one piece left on it the floor cut out it doesn't look promising!I talk about my car at work some of the guys came over to go wheeling first time they seen it and their jaws hit the ground .My friend who has seen it a few times said he started to change the spark plugs and things got out of hand To them I know it's not worth much . But to me well lets see.......I have met a great bunch of people on a site who always seem to be interested in my car and who are always willing to give me advise and share their knowledge .I have scrounged parts from Prince Edward Island Canada to California (over the net )to Morden Mountain Road a place near me on the Bay of Fundy to Chester Basin Nova Scotia. And have met and talked with a bunch of great and interesting people in the process.I have developed a great relationship with my metal shop guy he lets me bend and shape most of my metal parts and treats me really well !(he also keeps reminding me if I want to sell he is first in line)I have met a great guy in Ontario who I'm getting my paint through ,a hot rodder himself and he is bringing the SPI paint into Canada great prices and a very helpful guy ( I can put you guys in contact if you need any paint )And there are lots of things I have yet to learn and people I have yet to meet .So what is the true value of my car ? Monetarily probably not much but in terms of what it has done and will have done for me by the time I'm done hmmmm.... hard to put a value on it .I guess that's why my car will always be worth more to me than to anyone else!

I got the 73 for $500, $3k later it's insured at $7k The 67 convert for $8k (I know, way too much!), $2k later....it's still sitting in the garage...... I figure I could get $7-8k for it when it is done, but it isn't going to be sodl once it's done! The 73 Dart Sport - I just had pay shipping on it It is sitting in the parking lot at the office awaiting a wheel bearing and....

Bought the cuda 10 years ago for $2500.00. I probably have $10,000.00 or less into it, but I haven't added up the bills in a while. It was appraised at $17,500.00 when I put it back on the road in August. It is still wearing the original paint, and will be worth more when I get around to doing the body and paint. The only way someone would buy it tomorrow, is from my estate.

An old man once told me " If you want to know what somthings worth, take the title to the bank and see what they will loan you on it tomorrow" thats where the Real, in Real Estate, comes in, always valuble even if the structures on it are burnt down. Don't get me wrong I got tens of thousands in cars prolly well over a 100,000.oo, it's just that as a hobbyist I seem to be good at waving by by to money, other people I know are hard corp business heads playing with cars, now these guys make money wheelin an dealin in cars, they also are not out to make friends with anyone, buyer, seller, people with parts all of em. When I needed money or to just get rid of something FAST like maybe I run out of a reasonable way to store it , I have never been able to get close to what I felt it's worth, of course these same situations give another guy a chance at coming up, and sometimes a shyster scores and sends some good stuff to another country for big $$$. A guy I once worked for has $$$$$$ and is a wheeler and dealer in muscle and classics, you wouldn't believe what he scores because people all know him and when they need $$ they call him cause they know he's got it, then he keeps the killer stuff and makes $$$ on the rest.

I had about 20K into the Duck after both rebuilds, and sold it for 15K. I knew I would never get what I put into it, but the fun I had building the car was well worth the 5K lost over the 3 1/2 years it took me to build it . My next car will be built with a profit in mind. The clone SS/AA Hemi car that just sold on ebay sold for 43K and I know I can build one much nicer for quite a bit less than that. For me, building the car is most of the fun. Driving them is kinda cool too but my enjoyment is in the small details of the build

my 69 i built from the 6 cylinder 904 7 1/4 it was to dana big block 727, everything has been upgraded or replaced except the interior and body. some things have been done 2 or 3 times. the body is close to ready for paint npw, the interior needs seat covers dash pad and carpet. i probably have 12,000 into it. it will never be done in my eyes and im sure i will do some things 2 or 3 more times. my 67 on the other hand is going to be a budget build i learned all the shortcuts and stuff on the first one. i had a lot of spare parts from the 69, im going to make as much stuff as i can, and switch some parts between the 2 and im trying ot buy as much used as i can. so bewteen the 2 cars they should balance out to more resonable numbers. if i have to sell one it will be the 67. i love my 69.

Paid 4k for it two years ago. It had the 440 but had three spun rods.Time slips from that bad day were mid 13s before he apparently forgot to shift . ![\/][](http://www.bigblockdart.com/Smileys/classic/finger020.gif) only had 3:23s and 245/60-14 tires. I built the motor:all new rotating assy., resealed the trans, added stall convertor, rebuilt rear with 4:30s, rebuilt/replaced front suspension ,replaced entire brake system new, added aluminum readiator, electric fans,hi amp alt, headers, msd, carbs and intake, frame contectors, rims and tires, resealed all glass. spent 5k and lots of my time. Now has run 11.92 and insured for 15k . I was offered 12k but it will only be sold at my estate sale,if they don't bury me in it . [attachment deleted by admin]

69 Sport Satellite convertible. I bought it a couple of years ago off a friend. He gave me a good deal. It's an original survivor car 318/auto. $8600. Since then I put about $4-5k into it. I will be putting more into it this winter. Value maybe $12,000 - $14,000.
69 Dart GT with a built 440/727/8 3/4. I paid $4,000 for it about 4 years ago. It's close to being roadworthy. I have about $8,000 into it with maybe another $2,000 to go. Value when done? Maybe $10,000 - $12,000.
56 Ford F100 pickup. I bought it about 3-4 years ago for $4,200. Southern rust free body, 289 HO/C-4. One piece fiberglass tilt nose. I've only bought a new bed about $1,500 for it. I will be rebuilding the rear suspension this winter. Value maybe $5,000 - $6,500. After I get it roadworthy ad about $7,000 - $8,000 to it. These trucks are very popular with the hotrod crowd. The 56 is the most sought after year of the F100 trucks.

Let's see -- I'm probably way off on these, but here goes... My Demon -- I have about $10K wrapped up in it and could probably get $10K for it. I bought it 16 years ago for $2500. My Barracuda -- bought it 1+ year ago for $2k and a road trip to Cali (LA) to pick it up...about a $100 trip. Other than that, I haven't put anything into it other than maintenance from being a daily driver since I've had it. I think I could get $3-5K depending on the buyer. It's a rust-free southwestern car...I know you east coast boys want it!!! My 73 Satellite Sebring Plus -- Bought it almost 2 years ago now for $2600 and a trip to southern CO to pick it up...about a $400 trip. It's in pieces (was when I got it) and nearly ready for paint. Another rust-free SW car, came out of the desert of SE Utah...you can eat off the floor boards and under-carriage. Originally a 400/727 car...I have the numbers motor (two spun rod bearings) and also a 440 and another 400 for it. I've bought maybe another $2k worth of parts for it...so total investment of $5K. I'd be lucky to get $3K for it because it is a '73 and it's a Satellite, not a RR. As stated by a previous member --- all three will go to the grave with me...so no chance of selling them unless it's a last resort.

Not sure really probably get 15 for the 68 convertible, probably have close to 20 in it. 10-12 for the 67 340 4 speed have about 7 into it with buying price. I really have no idea though and not planning on selling either.

I bought my '70 Swinger /6 with AC 3 years ago for $1,000. I have added $13,000 in upgrades and paint. My insurance company has it appraised at $14,500 which is about what I think a car like this, in this condition, would go for if sold on the open market. ...of course, the 440/727/3.91 SG make it a fun car to drive. I would let it go for $14,000 even and start all over again. For me, it's the hobby I enjoy most. Fix them and turn them over to save another one. Jim
