I have the Mopar MSD 6AL mounted to the right fender and the coil in the stock location. When the engine gets hot the car will not start after a cool down period it fires nicely. I am concerned about the mounting position of the coil the manufacturer should know best how their products work. Any suggestions on getting the coil mounted verically in the engine bay, my car is equipped with factory air so fire wall space is extremely limited.

OK, Who on here has ever lost a coil because it was mounted on it's side? I 've heard people say that they've done it for years with no problems and I've heard lot's of "instruction readin" people say it's bad. HAVE YET TO HEAR ANYONE SAY THEY BURNED UP A COIL BECAUSE IT WAS ON IT'S SIDE.
SERIOUSLY, IF WE ALL FOLLOWED RULES THERE WOULD BE NO BIG BLOCK DART'S AROUND. THE CAR WASN'T DESIGNED FOR IT AFTER ALL. You know what? Maybe I'll be the first to burn one up.....cause I'm leaving mine right where it is

I've had my MSD Blaster 2 on its side for 3 years and about 6000 miles without problems. I didn't read the destructions either.

I have my Mopar box mounted were the heater box was. Outa sight outa mind. I put some peel and stick heat/sound deadener were the heater was, mounted the unit with rubber isolater washers on 3/8 plywood and attached it to the firewall.

WHAT'S YOUR PROBLEM? It was a simple manufacturer installation observation and a suggestion, on a post that I started, I really don't care where you put your coil..............and I don't think anyone else does either............burn it up....blow it up........If you have something to say that is negative please try and keep it to yourself, or start your own post to see how many people have lost a coil from putting it on its side. Thank you very much!!!!!!!!!! Dude, who peed in your cornflakes? you can have your stinkin post back, all you have to do is say something intelligent. I was simply replying to peoples comment on "my" coil position (including yours). If you don't like what I have to say then don't ask. HOWS THAT FOR NEGATIVE?

Ok, guys calm down a bit. I'll leave things as they are for now. Definitely some disagreement on when/if the coil will fail if used on its side. I can tell you this for sure, you'll never know if the coil failed because it was on its side, so no reason to argue the point.
