All I can say is my 6 week job on my heads took 3 months.  They swapped my springs but didn't know what they put on.  I had tested my springs before I sent them the heads and they were fine as far as pressure but I didn't know if they would clear the extra lift.  I said, change them if you have to because you are changing the cam... but If mine will clear the extra lift, use them. Well when I got the heads back, the springs were changed, but they didn't charge me for them because Craig said mine were fine, we used yours... It was like pulling teeeth to convince him my springs had a gold stripe and the springs on my heads have an orange strip.  \/][ I aslo requested all my parts back, valves, keepers, retainers and never got them.  It took weeks to get the before/after flow numbers and the numbers were not consistant with a few other benches.  So my opinion is unless you are buying a 50k super stock motor, there are plenty of other good builders out there that will treat you with respect and not give you the run around on when they will complete your work for you.

I've never dealt with them but I havn't heard anything bad about them either. You have a right to be ticked off, I hate getting jerked around. I'm sure they'll refund your deposit once you start bitching. Keep us updated.

I`ve spoken to Craig a few times and got promises and of course no action on a couple of occasions.  I was going to get a complete set of gaskets for my motor through them (copper head  , intake etc) all the similar thickness as type as whats in the motor for future teardowns . Although they should have all that info on file,  I think I`m going to source this stuff direct from the vendors, might be less hassle.   Sad situation , hopefully everythings going OK over there hate to hear things like this about a former hometown boy like Ray.  You sure don`t hear much about how their car is doing in S/S for the past year or so.
  Chryco Wink

P.S. My engine came from RBRE , I have great faith in the way it was built and parts used and so far am super happy with it.

I hate to tell you this, but you'll probably be waiting more than 10 weeks for that KB block.  I ordered mine from them about two months ago and I haven't even come up on the list.  Probably another 6-8 weeks after your name comes up from what I hear.  Hurry up and wait is the theme when it comes to hemi parts.  Somehow got the stage v heads shipped to modern cyl head in like a week.  I think Jeff at modern may have an inside track on them.  Good luck.

So I hear. The Hemi stuff is all in very high demand now, but the output isn't really increasing so the wait times on them are killer. Someone on another website had the right idea and suggested that "if you're going to Hemi-fy your car, put your down payment in way before the car is ready for the motor, so by the time the rest of it's done you'll only have to wait a couple months for it!"  Lips Sealed

oh ya...i should have read that.....for the kb block i would look into that more because i was talking to a few guys regarding streetability and they said even though the block passe's water it's not very efficient at cooling like the old stage4 block's....so you could potentially run into problem's without some mods...

I WAS  ( repeat was) a long time customer and support of Mr. Barton's organization and for reasons I won't go into on this public forum I will no longer give them my business, the saleman there - Craig lacks any credibility with me for either customer service or product knowledge. and Mr. Barton's financial practices leave much to be desired.
The good news is Outlaw that Dennis was on the phone  with me last night with me and it seems that your money is coming back. Best of luck with the project  keep us poste and if any of you are planning to buy a KB block just make sure you deal with KB directly.
Twin turbo mopars  hopefully I can get the R5/P7 together one of these days, I'm building a pump gas street car though.

Yes John that's me, the plan changed a bit though, the blue cuda I had down there is becoming a bit of hybrid ricer/muscle car ( I know I'm waiting for all of the abuse!) and the turbo R5 motor is going in my right hand drive 69 cuda. Let's hope Dennis gets the wagon done soon, I know he's crazy busy with that big old monster. Listen I have that big Mark Williams Promod axle sitting here that was going in the cuda- along with all the Vanishing Point 4 link suspension stuff, I won't be using that or the new Weld rims, any of the racers out there building a car might save a chunk of cash over buying new!
Email me John and we can make contact that way, things get a little (??) crazy around here and sometimes I don't log in here for weeks- keep in touch and best of luck with the car, it'll be a riot to drive, tha's for sure! santa4

On the Barton issue, I'd heard of him for years and was looking forward to doing business with them.    I was originally going to have them build me a 440-6pak for my cuda.   I think it was "Craig" that I talked to that was VERY arrogant and non-committal to time frame, pricing, etc.    Had talked with other shops too, and just plain decided to go a different route, hence, brand new SRT8 Hemi.    I'm real happy...

Man this car is going to be SO FAST, finally someone in the Mopar world is going to go kick some butt in the 10.5W class, there's some serious opposition, but hey that only makes you try harder- best of luck and I look forward to speaking to you.

barton is alittle slow getting engines done. took me like 8 weeks to get my 572 B1 back from him the last time
i had him work on my engine. you should of called KB and ordered it from him. took me 5 mos. to get to the
top of the list. by that time i had my block repaired and had it back together. now its a 580ci B1.
call mike at muscle motors, he will fix you up.

The best advertising is a referal(sometimes it works the other way too)....thanks to guys like all you maybe Ray Barton will hop down of his high horse, some people seem to forget who MADE them in the bizz they choose, hobbyists and racers are a dedicated bunch and we are talking serious coin here.I for one will now after reading this thread will never deal with Barton.
