My 71 Dart has a flawless hood.I keep it stored in the kitchen just to be safe.I'm thinking hood scoop in the future, not for looks but for clearance.Cutting it does not sit well with me.However you gotta do what you gotta do.Just thought i'd ask.

Get a fiberglass version if you don't want to cut it.. It would more than likely look better and last longer too. (speaks from experience of molding two scoops into two different steel hoods)

Molding fiberglass to steel always cracks in time. I would just buy a glass one.

but if you buy the glass hood, don't forget to buy a set of the light weight hood hinge and spring assemblies, as the factory hood springs will not be a good idea with the glass hood. Richard

Dont cut it! Yeah, I know why did You cut Yours? Well first off, this hood was a mess when I got it.It was involved in a bad engine fire and was burnt bad where the blower is. I also only gave 20 bucks for it.The left rear corner was also wrecked. Get a glass one.

I'll cut anything up This was my original hood, ding and rust free. I used a material called "Vette Bond" and it's used in building Corvettes, That's waht they use to bond fiberglass to steel. I had a lot of time in this hood and had it on the car for many years with no cracks. I sold it on Ebay to a guy in Fla and he was very happy with it. With that said, galss is easier but a hood in the shop is better than a expensive part on the credit card And just in case you think I'm joking about cutting up stuff... anyone could have got a rust free floor for nothing... I fiinally cut it in half gave the front half away to a guy fixing a 4-sp butcher job and the other half went to the dump Anyone can restore a car, a real man will cut it up.

Get a glass hood. I molded a glass scoop to a steel hood once. It didn't crack since I prepped it very carefully, but what it did was end up weighing a million pounds. NOT a good combo for a car you expect some modicum of performance from. Granted, it was a big hood and a big scoop, but I was kicking myself later on for not going with "glass.

If your not gonna race it ,,,or put it in shows... cut the the freakin hood!...or you could keep it in your kitchen for say 15 more years and sell it for $1000-$2500 on e-bay...just think of the gold mine you could be sitting on if you saved all the non-rusted parts and sold them 20 years from now.......why play the stock market..if you can play the mopar parts stock market and know you will make money??? cut the freakin hood you only live once.
