BBD T-shirts
« on: December 21, 2006, 05:36:33 PM »

So I've been DYING to get my hands on a bbd sign t-shirt.  I know Bill is busy enough as it is so I figured I'd try to get the ball rolling and maybe we can do this without him having to lift a finger.  First of all, I found this awesome site that makes custom everything (t-shirts, sweatshirts, pants, teddy bears, etc..) and it's pretty easy to use.  The site is www.customink.com.  I just checked to see how much it would cost to get 29 custom t's and it said $29/each which is pretty steep for a plain t.  I chose full color on the front and back though so that could be why it was jacked up so high.  It gets cheaper and cheaper with a larger amount bought ($20/each, when 35 are bought, full color on back & 3 colors on front; it goes down to $18.49/each when 42 are bought).  The minimum for full color is 25.  Here's my plan:

-I need the final picture to start testing different ways of putting it on a t-shirt.  If you click on "The Lab" at that web site, it has an awesome t-shirt maker, so we can all start creating a t-shirt we like and then we can all vote on which we like best.
-We need an idea of how many people are rock solid on buying a t-shirt.  Post here if you're pretty positive that you want one.
-Get a quote of how much it would cost per person given how many people want one & the final design.
-If the price is right, we can figure out how this is going to work.  We will probably want to send our money to one person who can keep track of it all until they get enough to buy the t-shirts and then they will have to distribute the t-shirts whichever way the buyer wants/pays for.

What do you guys think?  I would really like to finally get that t-shirt idea rolling since we have such an awesome design thanks to Vader.  Let me know if there is any confusion.

Oh, I forgot! When we order, we can order any variety/number of sizes.  There's youth sizes, adult sizes, and plus sizes.  I'm sure I can find a sizing chart if I have to but I'm sure you guys have some idea of what size you are.  So if you could tell me what size you want when you put your name down for one, that would be very helpful. Thanks! Grin

you can buy a kit that puts any image from  a c.d. into your computer then prints out the image onto a transfer that you iron on your own shirt.   $40 makes several.
Yeah, but those don't look as nice at all and they fade & crack after washing.

I'll get one in XL.  If you want to shop around, there are quite a few sites doing custom shirts these days such as http://www.spreadshirt.com/ or http://www.cafepress.com/cp/customize/

I could probably whip up a good photoshop design for us sometime after Christmas. As for buying a shirt, count me as a "maybe."

We already have 19 shirts requested (counting the maybe's) which is pretty good since the topic hasn't been up for very long and there isn't even a real design yet.  I was thinking the design on a t-shirt might look best in black & white but I'll definitely make the designs in both so we can see.  I really need to post the design so people who haven't seen it yet can get an idea.  I'll PM Dart Vader today but if someone else has saved it to their comp and can post it that would  be awesome.

Dart Vader, a former tattoo artist, created the design and let me tell you; it freakin rocks!  I think you'll really like it.

That would be cool.  I was thinking of putting Dart Vader's design on the back and just putting bigblockdart.com or something promoting the web site in one of the front corners.  I was hoping to keep the writing simple yet not completely boring.   Anyone who wants to should make a design and then we can all decide on which we like best.

I agree with the pic on back and bbd.com on the front corner. Not too busy. Be really cool if it were members cars too. Id take one XL. Prefer black or white tee, but Id take one anyway.

Yeah, Dart Vader had a design all finalized. That's the one I want!
When they're available, I'll order two.

I have the images saved to my home computer. When I get home, I'll post it if someone doesn't beat me to it.

I hate to be seen as sticking my nose where it doesn't belong because I thing a the bbd sign shirts are a GREAT idea....but....I've had custon shirts made in the past & on more than 1 occassion for far less than $29. I've found that by dealing with a local silk screaner you can save lost of cash. Either way...I"M IN!
Just my $.02

I'm all for it - I'll buy some, at least. If the price is reasonable I'll get a bunch.  I just gave up on it -I tried 3 printers and they all blew me off. If you an get them, more power to ya.

...I'm still wanting the image Vader made, but you really have to get 2 made, because there are just as many that would prefer a more classic image instead of the flaming skull guy...

Someone send me the Dart Vader Image please, I'm gonna see if I can get a local Printer to make them...Also, maybe we could have some made with the new Poster on the back too...I've been putting off jumping on this because I thought bill wanted to take care of it....but the time is ready for me to take the bull by the horns and get these done at a price we all can afford to have 3 or 4 of them, in different colors... A few times I considered Cafepress to do things for the site, but I just can't find any time.  If someone wants to play with shirts, posters, stickers, calenders, hats, ect, feel free to drop me a line. I'm not interested in making money off of it - it's just fun stuff that we could all have. Personally, I always wanted to do yearly calenders with members cars on it, and choose a new set of cars each year.

If I can afford to spring for the cost, I'm more than happy to do so - it's just the time that I can't find....
