I grew up in Pittsburgh in the days of Bruno San Martino and Batman. But anyway, I also respect Bill Goldberg. He's got a lot of great Mopars and he was a very down to earth guy at Carlisle last summer. The wife and stepkids got pictures and autographs and had a great time! thank you

The Briscoe Brothers are the ones that discovered Hulk Hogan.

The Road Warriors were cool. Let's not forget Bob Backlin (spelling?) Remember when he came back as some lunatic. I thought that was sad. How about the Moondogs and those nasty bones they would lick. Tongue

How about Ken Patera with his manager the grand wizard of wrestling, or how about Fred Blassy saying"you pencil neck geeks". That's when wrestling was wrestling, when stan "the lariet" hanson busted open that little champion Bob Backlund in the steel cage match. A little trivia....Who defeated Bob Backlund after he was champion for 15 years on the wwf circuit......................Hint "Shiek"

You guys got me on a roll now..Does anyone remember when little Pat Paterson busted open Sgt Slaughter with his cowboy boot over the head.
Tony Garia and Rick Martel(Tag champions), Jessee "The Body' Ventura and Adrian Adonis......Don't you dare forget Captain Lou Albano and the MOONDOGS.

It was the Iron Shiek. Then Hulk Hogan beat him and the Ultimate Warrior beat Hulk. After that I lost track.

Wrestling....there was some serious sports entertainment! I remember watching wrestling at the Sportitorium in Dallas when I was a kid. Used to watch the old wrestlers like Fritz von Eric, "Chief Wahoo"McDaniels, Lou Thez, The Crippler, and Dick the Bruiser.
Always got a big kick out of Ric Flair, "stylin` and profilin`". Won his first heavyweight title after breaking his back in an airplane crash( or so I heard). There are alot of them that just kind of faded away into obscurity, like Jake "the Snake" Roberts, Nikita Koloff, and Tully Blanchard.
Then there were then ones that met tragic ends like King Kong Bruiser Brody and Sting. I remember when Sting debuted as a bad guy with "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert and Rick Steiner.
All told though, I think my personal favorite (through ALL the drama) was Arn Anderson aka "The Enforcer". He and his brother Ole made up the "Minnesota Wrecking Crew", which along with Ric Flair and Tully Blanchard were "The Four Horsemen of the Apocolypse". I saw an interview many, many tears ago in which Tully Blanchard was discussing his lifetime ban from wrestling for drug abuse, although they never mentioned what his particular addictions were.
Oh Hell, this was supposed to be a one phrase post, but look what happened! I haven`t watched it for many years, but seeing the topic put one of those silly grins on my face, like the ones you can`t explain to your wife when you are thinking about something in your past that you are better off her not knowing!!!

One of my friends here at work was a wrestler. Not a name guy, he was one of those stiffs that would get beat up. He got beat up by Big Boss Man, Jake the Snake Roberts and Coco Bware. He has the video to prove it.

I actually got into the local wrestling with him years ago. It was TOUGH! I decided to get into motocross instead. Yeah good choice. I broke my back, ribs, concussions etc. etc.

That was Jake the Milkman Mulligan.  Oh, and nobody mentioned Sting.  He also called out "Wooooo" through out his matches.  But, it was obvious the answer to this post was Rick Flair.  I have a cousin here in Minnesota that used to wrestle in the AWA, went by the name Stoney Burke, real name, Rick Stawski.  He's got some awesome stories.  He wrestled in the Wahoo McDaniel days, Rock and Roll Buck Zumhoff, Jerry Blackwell, The Crusher, Baron Von Rashke, you get the idea.
