I'm sure it's been discussed here somewhere, but what kind of saw or cutter is the right tool(s) for a mini-tub project. I suspect maybe a plasma cutter is the right answer, but I don't have one. Can you do it all (well) with a regular Sawzall? Did I see someone mention a mini-sawzall? Will an air driven cut-off tool also help? What's the hot set-up?
Thanks, John
I used a 4" angle grinder with 6",.045 cutoff wheels and a sawzall. Bought a mini body saw from Harbor Freight, waste of money. The angle grinder with the wheel is your friend. After a buddy turned me on to a couple of wheels I use them to cut anything.

I just went to the hardware store and all I could buy were 7" metal cut-off wheels. I guess those will work too? It sounds like this would cut some metal, but it also scares me some because I remember that one time my dad was using a smaller cut-off wheel when it exploded and ripped a big slice in the ceiling. In fact, I just checked my stuff and the grinder is supposed to turn 12,000 rpm and the 7" wheels are rated for 8,500 rpm max. Do I need to find some different (6") wheels or buy a different grinder? Thanks, John

I also bought a full face shield, but I was thinking that if the damn thing came apart it could cut my throat. You should see the damage to the drywall ceiling in my dad's garage...
I think you're right about the RPM of the grinder with the bigger wheel. Plus, it's a cheap grinder and I suspect that 12K rated rpm is an exagerted no wheel free spin speed.
Thanks, John

A full face sheild is also important, I also wear my welding gloves, those 6" wheels are darn close to my digits. The wheels I use are 14200 rpm and my Dewalt angle grinder turns 10000.

My favorite wheel is made by Spartan 1-800-321-4010 not sure if thats a good phone#, also Metabo and Sait are other brands. I pick them up at the swap meet.
