I am converting over to manual steering from power steering, I have already installed new manual steering box. Now the steering column I bought is for manual steering with floor shift, but when I bought it ,it did not come with any ignition keys, so I need to replace the ignition key part of the switch, I have ot torn down to where I can acess the ignition switch (that black housing piece was removed that is in front of switch) so from this point how do I get the key ignition aseembly out to replace with new one with new keys, this steering column also has one of those depress slider for removing key out of igntion once you turn car off, need help

is the steering lock set up out already. its kinda a black round thing with notches in it all the way around it? if so then you need to take this plate off.. two philips screws holding it on.. below is what you will see under that plate... now make sure the key is in the ignition... heck any chrysler key that will slide in will work... it doesn't have to turn or anything. just slide all the way in.. ok see that little hole? find a nail or small screw driver that will fit in there and while pulling the key assembly out, push down on that pin in the little hole... see that little tit.. thats what is in that little hole that you have to push down.... you'll see its pretty easy...

I'm doing the same thing, but I can't even get to the steering lock. I can't get the top part of the column off. I did it on my Ram a couple years ago, but I can't seem to remember how to do it.

the top of the column has a snap ring holding it on.. alot of times even when you get the snap ring off it gets stuck for some reason...

Yeah I was confused, I pulled the snap ring and it wouldn't budge. Guess I'll take the rubber mallet to it tomorrow.

I got it, the bearing was on there pretty good. It actually took longer to reinstall the bearing then to get it off. Everything works now, plus now I can lock my doors and start my car with the same keys. Yay!
