What gauge metal should I use the for the patch material? I bought some 16 gauge steel, but I'm thinking it's too heavy. What do you think?

I used 18 ga to build my tubs.

16 seems like overkill. I got whatever my local body shop stocked. I think it was 18, but cannot remember for sure.

Here is the ga. thiknesess into decimal 16ga.=0.0598 17ga.=0.0538 18ga.=0.0478 19ga.=0.0418 Just mic your tub and compare your number to the ones I gave you
