Topic: 67 - 69 Barracuda dash? (Read 405 times)

What are the differences in the dashes of a 1967 barracuda and the 68-69?
I know the cig lighter is located on the dash next to the radio in 68-69 and the radio is thumb dial in 68-69 and the glove boxes also differ.
So is the dash itself different or just the trim pieces?

The dashes will interchange, with the differences you have already noted. The woodgrain trim and paint are also slightly different. One other difference is the numbers on the speedos. I believe the 67 numbers were in line with the needle, so 60 was straight up and the rest were slightly angled. The 69 numbers were alll straight up, and I think the 68's were the same. Doesn't affect interchangability, but some wiseacre at a show will no doubt point it out.

So does the 67 dash have a spot in the dash where the lighter goes in the 68-69, and I am assuming the radio cut outs are different in 67 than 68-69?
Are there places to attach the spring loaded hinges for the glove box on a 68-69?
Thanks for the help!!

I have a 69 now, and have owned a couple of 68's, but I am kinda going by memory on the 67. I can't remember the lighter position. The 67 dash has round holes for the radio knobs, and the 68/69 have slots for the thumbwheels. I would guess that the attachment points for the glovebox door are the same whether you use the spring loaded hinge or the later piano hinge with the teather strap.

No, there is no hole for the lighter. The radio holes are different. There is no provision to swap glove box doors. Ash tray is unique in 68 to match the lower pads. Heater controls are different and mount to the back of the cluster differently. Speedometer cable screwed on in 67 and slipped on starting in 68. Do you need a 67 frame?

I am located in St Louis, MO. One in good condition that doesn't need a lot of metal work is preferred.

I have one that has been opened up in the radio area and is the rougher of the two. The other one has had a few small holes drilled in it as well as a larger hole for a four speed "REVERSE" light (no the light doesn't go with it). I can pull them out of the rafters tomorrow and get some pics.

No, sorry I forgot to get mine down this weekend. That looks like a Dart or Valiant dash. It is a 67 dash, though.

Yeah, I'll get a chance tonight or tomorrow. I've got to go ship something right after work, but it's a little warmer here today so venturing out after dark won't be so cold.
