67-69 Dart gauge cluster
« on: January 17, 2007, 06:39:10 PM »

This guy is selling a "68 Dart Gt" instrument cluster but I've never seen one like it in a 68 model.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1968-Dart-GT-GTS-DASH-INSTURMENT-CLUSTER-1967-1969_W0QQitemZ190073363562QQihZ009QQcategoryZ10076QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Is it Canadian?  Will it fit my 67?  If so, can I use a later model cluster like out of a 70- 75 Duster or Dart instead?  I always had Dusters before and might like to use this style speedo.

Thanks!

That's a Valiant cluster. There were some interchanged names in Canada, so it MAY have come from a 68 Canadian Dart or the guy doesn't know what he is talking about.

looks to me to be like the clusters ive seen in an about 68 valiant, later they didn't have the trim rings and didn't have the flash switch there

Thanks for help guys.  Back to part of my original question though, can I swap a 70-75 Duster instrument cluster into my 67 Dart dash frame?

i dont see why not, you might need to do some triming though- ask someone that has both an early and late a body

To put any other cluster in requires some trimming or filling. Finding out exactly what to cut is the hard part.

Thanks guys!  That is what I  was trying to figure out.  Dont want to hack up the dash frame, guess I'll just keep saving for that Rocky Mountain Dashes one that I keep dreaming about!

All I can tell you is that I pulled that same cluster from a 67 Valiant at the junkyard about 2 years ago. I put it in the 72 Dart I had at the time; it fit almost perfect (the top mounting holes were a little off) and looked a lot better than the woodgrain one in my opinion. I'm pretty sure it would take a lot of work to make it fit in an earlier Dart, though.
