installing 68 taillights in a 67
« on: January 20, 2007, 10:16:05 PM »

I saw 67post's question about taillights has anyone done this swap I'am trying to figure the best way ,Ithought about cutting taillight bucket out of trunkpanel will 69 bucket work I've got access to one

this is an update to the above, once taillight pocket is cut out the assembly fits nicely in ext opening we have decided to seal out wateron the surface with a product that nissan uses the lense will be removeable but this will seal out water before it gets to pocket area ,as with original as mounting nuts are tightened the assembly pulls down nice

I'm just guessing but the 68 and 69 buckets should be the same. They are deeper than the 67's. I was going to install 69 lights in my car but the guy at the body shop didn't want to work on the car and so I forgot it just to get the car done. By the time I took it to a shop that would work on it I already had the 67 lights restored.

wildcat thanks for your intrest the buckets are deeper at the mounting flange. my body guy is willing to do the change, the only way to get it right and seal out the water is to replace the bucket not an easy task to do it right. a buddywho's restoring a68gts convert. got a 68 he said I could cut pockets out of if I stay out of quarter panels thanks
