Salvage as many parts as possible, don't let its death be for nothing! Good thing you were at least able to walk away from the accident.

Damn dude glad you're all right. You were pretty lucky. If you're looking for another Dart I have a 69 down here in Imperial Beach and I know where there's a killer deal on a 67 over by the sports arena. At least it was available 2 weeks ago. Send me a PM if you want details.

My little sister used to have a '64 Dart in high school, and she got creamed by a Honda. Her Dart got hit in the quarter, so it tweaked the unibody and she eventually got rid of it... But she didn't have a scratch, and the Honda got hauled away, all crumpled up like a paper wad. I don't want to crash mine, but I know its a helluva lot safer than many other things on the road. I hate seeing a smashed up Dart though. If you still want to build that 318, DartKnight, I'll help you, no problem.

I am SO glad you're all right! The car is your baby, I know, but in the end... it really is just a car. I wish you the best of luck finding another Dart and a speedy recovery from your [minor] injury.

When I lost mt Charger in an accident, I completely gutted that car. Now, most of it is going into my roadrunner. All that stuff is familiar to you. Find another body and make any improvements you may have learned about since putting that car together. My Charger was great, but my roadrunner is going to run rings around it.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I consider myself to be the luckiest SOB in the world right about now. When I was sitting on the side of the highway while the CHP was cleaning up the mess, I was just staring at the car amazed at the damage and wondering how the hell I was able to walk away. Especially after seeing the damage to the lady's truck who hit me (I think it was a Equinox or Trailblazer, whatever Chevy's mid-size suv is), it was just a mind blow. I'm really not interested in getting it back from the tow yard because most of the good parts and real work was in the front half of the car, which is destroyed. They let me pull my Autometers and the stereo stuff; the rest I don't much feel like paying the yard to get back, and I'd rather start over, anyway, to be honest. It was very stressful just to look at it when I came to get my stuff out. Oh well, there's more where that came from, right?

Wow, i really wish I wasn't on deployment right now, Cause I would snag that it up in a heartbeat. No way you'd be able to hang ontoit for a guy till late april huh? It doesn't look like anything behind the firewall is toast, so it would make an awesome start for a project. What yard is it at and how much do they want for it? Most of your driveline should be in decent condition, no?

It's hard to look at the car in that condition, but it really will be in your best interest to take any and all salvageable parts out of it. Even if you can save the valve covers and simple stuff like that, you won't have to buy it again. Get a twelve pack and a couple of buddies, and yank everything out of it next weekend - you can sell what you don't want later and recoup a big chunk of change.

Wow , sorry about your car but at least you're ok, thats what counts. I agree with the others, don't let it go to salvage. There are alot of good parts on it or you might even be able to fix it. Once you get the front clip off it might not be that bad. Almost everything can be fixed. I'm a bodytech and can tell you things always look alot worse with the smashed sheetmetal on them. I'm just glad you're ok.
