I got a reply from the owner of that car. He said it was a Hemi years ago and now realizes it's a wedge. The old magic Hemi to wedge trick. The 383 Hemi from the 65 ss car was actually a 426 destroked to run in another class.

Have you seen the new Pics he added of the engine bay and also noted it was rebuilt only 500 miles ago.

Now here is another stupid thing to point out. If you are trying to sell a $23,000 car, why the hell do you take pictures of it at night? That car isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

The pics are also a year old if you go by the date. If you were trying to scam the 500 mile rebuild, wouldn't you invest in a can of degreaser. I gave the inbreeder a link to identifying Mopar big blocks.

So does my dog, newspaper to sh!t on. Sad, do you think the guy is this lame or just, been duped into believing this? BTW, I really don't have a dog, but "he's" as real as this 383 hemi.

at least this guy acknowledges that chrysler built a 383.. my griflriends dad who's always "chevy this chevy that" refuses to believe that chrysler produced a 383. keeps telling me that the 383 i own is a chevy engine.

Yeah. Hemi heads can go on a 440 block. It requires grinding the valley and welding tubes I think. Haven't seen anything on it in a long time. If I needed to do something like that now, I'd look for a set of Stage 5 conversion heads. They only require grinding for pushrod clearance. All in all, I'd rather use a good wedge head.

I went ahead and reported it to ebay for listing it as a HEMI, that is fradulent. I would not be surprised if they pulled that ad.

back in the early 80's when the mopar nats was at indy the first time ,,at the 500 track ,and car craft street machine nats,, there was a guy who lived just out side of indy,,,a pretty inventive guy,,, had a fast back cuda,,with a home made 4 speed shifter,,that worked like a linco,,,
but he also had a 383 with 426 hemi heads,,said it was almost a bolt on,,, i dont remember what he did to make it all work,,,there was a magazine that covered it back then,,
wish i knew where he was today ide love to have a shifte made from him

I like Springsteen, but he does have some pretty boring stuff too. I equate him with Tom Petty - they both have some good songs from their early days, a few mid-career, and now they're just trying to recapture ( unsuccessfully ) what they once had. Too bad Don Mclean mentions driving a Chevy in his only good song... ![\/][](http://www.bigblockdart.com/Smileys/classic/finger020.gif)
