help whith front Weight
« on: February 03, 2007, 08:08:04 PM »

Hi guys
i almost finish my rear suspention
i will use 15 x 10 wheels. so i move the springs to inside frame,  and i have a custon made one piece spring (whith this supension bar on the pic)
and  all aluminum on that new floor to save weight. i also have a disck brake on the rear and fiber bumper and trunk lid.

but my question is.
how can i take off some weight on the front
a have on the car a 318 block whith a 6.71 supercharger.
and i look to have a "real light car". Frustrated
does any one know have any good idea ?

i scared of  my car be to light on the back and to heavy on the front.
if any one can help ?

thanx mopars

Buy one of Bill's front ends, save 150-200 pounds i'm guessing

Does anyone know whats the weight diff. is ?  stock K-member vs. RMS front end ?

AlterK saves about 98 pounds over stock manual steering.  There are two bumper brackets on each side in the front - get rid of the outer half and swiss cheeze the remaining one.

There are a lot of little things you can do reasonably affordably, but the big weight reduction items cost $$$.  I dropped 250 lbs off the front end of my Dart with an AltK, Indy aluminum block and heads. I dropped prolly another 35 lbs off front end with other misc. item removal, but like I said the big ones cost money.  I bet you could lop off a good 75 lbs by taking off that blower and pulleys and it wouldn't cost you a dime  Grin Grin
