Bought more rusty cars in the last 2 years then in the last 20. Lot more imports into AZ to make up for the bunch that's already left I guess. Anyway's what's the trick on making things like rearends, control arms and maybe gas tanks, that have a little bit of surface rust, look newer/factory without just painting them? Have one car right now where everything looks great, except the diff. Thanks for any input.

Sandblast it, prime and paint, depending on how bad it's pitted, you could do a coat of sprayable filler or even regular filler and sand it smooth before painting it....Unless it's a show car I'd just paint it....

Hi Ed, You could soda blast the parts (better than sand blasting) and then contact Eastwood and check out their speciality paints that come in either spray cans or in liquid form, so you could use the paint in your own spray gun. They are a great company to do business with and I have never been unhappy with any of their products.
