Bulb replacement
« on: December 26, 2005, 12:48:37 PM »

I've been restoring the instrument cluster and everything in the dashboard of my 69 Satellite. I just found out that the 158 bulbs behind the gauge cluster have 194 replacements. I was trying to find the 158s and couldn't find them anywhere. I discovered the replacements are now 194s. These are the bulbs that fit in the little black knobs that you twist out from behind the gauge cluster.
I know it's a small detail but I figured I would post it anyway. I was banging my head against the wall and not too many shops around here know old Mopars.

Often when looking at a light bulb book, there are lights that are nearly identical and there seems to be no good reason for different numbers.

#158 bulbs are available thru SYLVANIA. I have them here at my business, I also have #194 bulbs. # 158 bulbs are about .030" to .050" shorter than #194. Either will work.. cat fight

168's and 193's will also work, just make sure you dont use 400's.

BE CAREFUL they don't make similar bulbs with different part #'s for kicks. Sylvania often makes a simialr bulb in a different wattage or resistance range, problem here is HEAT this can and has caused fires.
