Disc Brake Upgrade
« on: February 09, 2007, 12:39:47 PM »

I am upgrading my front brakes to large bolt discs on my 72 Dart with a soon to be 440 4-speed.  I have all the pieces need but have a question as to which way the floating clipers are mounted.  To the front of the spindle or the back?  I looks like they can go either way. \/][

I think the factory A body way is to the front.  Although I've heard peaple mount them towards the back to help with sway bar clearance.  I've also heard that mounting them up front keeps the pads cleaner.   Dunno

Mount it in the front, you will be fine.

Bleeder screw needs to be up on each side. Bleeder screw at the bottom of the caliper will never get the air out of the line.

hope that helps.

Ive always mounted them based on where the steel line / hose frame tab is.  If its behind the spindle...I prefer to put them on the back side.
72 Scamp had rear mounted calipers....so was my 71 Coronet.   The 75 Dart has a front mounted caliper, with a rear mouting tab.  The hose routes behind the spindle.  I think I used the same hose on front and rear caliper mounts.....just route as required....
