Yet another project Mopar...
« on: February 14, 2007, 07:14:46 PM »

This time it's not mine though!  Cheesy  We will be having a new member on board here at Big Block Dart sometime real soon.

Ma Mopar's influence has rubbed off on my best friend Bryant now... He's always liked Dodges, but he has never actually owned one himself. Lately he's been casually poking around looking for a decent project car, and he stumbled upon this Dart last week. We went to look at it on Saturday, and he ended up buying it yesterday.

copycat  Dunno

It's an ALL original '76 Dart Sport, 225 /6, 904, 7-1/4. The only thing new on this car is the paint, alternator, and starter. It was gold, but is now teal (by the looks of it, it was probably re-painted sometime in the '90s). It's complete and runs, but (as could be expected) it needs a lot of work.

The body is pretty straight, and the car is mostly rust free... there's a wee bit of rust in the trunk pan, but the floors, quarters, fenders, and frame are all solid. There's a couple big baseball-sized dents in the passenger side quarter and fenders, but nothing any body man worth a crap couldn't fix. All the exterior trim is there and in good or restorable condition. Head and tail light lenses are like brand new. Glass is good. The interior has been stripped, and wiring is a mess.

He plans on swapping the 225 for a 318 or 360... and he wants to do it as cost-effectively as possible. I'm not sure he fully understands all that's involved in the swap yet, but he'll figure it out in no time.

I'll try to get some better pictures soon. The car sits at his mom's house, which is about a 35-40 minute drive from our neck-of-the-woods.

He's really going to enjoy this project. Let him know where to go if he gets stuck...like we all do from time to time.

We haggled with the guy for a bit, and he finally got the car for $900.  Grin That is NOT bad for any straight, running, rust-free car.  Cheers

I told him that this site would be his new best friend, and he's already checked it out as a non-member. I told him I have bbd sign stickers on my Dakota and my Cuda, so he'll probably have some on his Infinity here pretty soon too  lol LOL
