so i've ben working on my new project a 47 plymouth club coupe the body needs some work , i want to get it cleaned but i'm not shure if i should have it blasted or dipped .. i'm leaning to dipping i had my dart blasted but when i replaced the bad spots in the floors and opened the frame rails yuck!! rust and it still leaves puddles of sand to this day . and i figure dipping will clean between the panels but i was quoted 800 to 1100 to dip just the shell no doors or trunk

The problem with dipping is that is removes all the paint and primer from areas you can't get to . So there will be bare metal that will rust in all the nooks and crannys. If you get it dipped, get it galvinized(spelling??)as well , then you should be ok. Troy

Troy .....galvanized.....sorry, my wife is a grammer nazi and it is rubbing off (rub harder, baby, harder ) If this place can acid dip, they must be able to do a primer or sealer dip as well. Check it out. Liquid can go where eyes can never go. The rust will be visible after the hole is blown out............

Ive seen some beautiful work come out of an acid bath, but in order to get ALL the acid from the hidden spots, you have to dismantle every little item and wash it down really well with water. IMO, a good media blast( walnut shells or glass media) is the best bet. A shop vac makes for faster cleanup and the media doesnt cause rust if you miss some.
