15 x 3 1/2 Wheels
« on: February 16, 2007, 10:39:59 PM »

Anybody use 15 x 3 1/2 front wheels on a street car? I already have some, I just need to order the rear wheels to match if its possible to use them on the street. They are Weld Draglites and Jeg's recommends them for drag use only. If anyone uses them, what size tire do you run?

165 -75 R 15  S rated by Kelly I think.  I had similar on another ride I used to own........drove it on the street for years with a spool and slicks occasionally.  Wasn't much in the slalom but looked cool and stopped just fine.
Did a fair bit of highway driving with 255 - 60 's on the rear and this was fine too.

Yeah I plan on running 275/60's on the rear and I already have the front wheels with 165's on the front. I guess I'm just going to order the rears to match. They're Draglites.

Thats the combo I am running. Mine arent draglites though....I have a set of Ralleys that stockiton sold me and I am looking for 15 x 3 1/2's now....I might end up going to the drag lit on the front. The 275/60 looks pretty good underneath. especialy with the ralley people see it and dont realise how wide the tire is untill they get behind the car. When I did the spring relo kit it also seemed to lower the car about 1-2". those tires are tucked up nicely.

I also run the 15 x 3.5 Weld Draglites on the front of my 66 Coronet, along with 15 x 7 Draglites on the rear. For tires, I run P165-60R-15 B.F.G' radial tires on the front and P235-60R-15's on the rear. As mentioned above, it won't out handle many cars on a tight corner, but it's more than enough for normal street driving and safe braking.

Well, its good to know that they will work. I'm more concerned with going straight anyways since my car isn't being built to go around corners. Looks like I'll order the rear draglites to match the skinnies I already have.
Thanks
