Gee.... if you wern't a senior member I'd swear you were trying to get your posts up. Great shots....great memories!!!!!! I graduated 1970...I regret not taking advantage of the "times" back then.....missed out on the car scene, but who knew. Owned a 70 RR in 71 sold it to a dealer in 72 for $750.00 to get married. That ended in 88...............should have kept the car!!!! Never bitched at me....just broke and I had to fix it. I did win a trophy for the fastest pure stock in Fl. that year. 383/727. I was going thru some old boxes and ran across some time slips from back in the day from Miami-Hollywood Speedway. Wow....that was a rush. So were the pictures with my long blonde locks. Must have been high Acapulco gold in those days. It was "bad ass weed"

Steve: Nice photo collection of some really great cars...I gotta feel a little sorry for those born to late to experience that breif moment in time called the 60's. Like Herb I have also owned my 67 Dart GTS since it was new..and Herb and I have swaped sories about our cars history.. When I see the cars on the street today I want to either laugh or cry..four doors ( in my time you would not be caught in a four door for any reason) with 25 inch wheels, tires that could pass as bicycle tires, and 10 inch chrome cans hanging off the tail pipe..now don't get me wrong i'm not picking on these guys, or bad mouthing their cars. They just don't know any better..THANKS TO BILL AND THIS SITE THERE IS A CHANCE THEY MAY BECOME EDUCATED... Ah the 60's...if only I could find that guy with the time machine...and the one giving away free parts. LO Maynard "Old fart in a Dart" (yeah eat your heart out) l Maynard

Hey Steve, THANK YOU for posting those VERY COOL pictures of that very 66 Coronet!!!! To say that I absolutely LOVE those cars is the understatement of the century!! As far as older drag racing pictures goes, you KNOW that I have them my friend, but as long as Joe doesn't get mad at us for kind of taking over his AWESOME 60's thread, I'd be very happy to post them. You do lose some of the detail when the pictures are down-sized to fit this fourm, but they are still a blast to look at!!! As Maynard mentioned, thanks to Mr. Reilly, yourself and myself, the gallery Bill has given us called "Vintage Iron", is an AWESOME place for all of our members, both younger and older, to hang out and either remember the "good old day's", or look and learn how cars were built and raced when they were new in the 60's and 70's. B.B.D. is, as far as I know, one of, if not the only Mopar website that has this type of dedicated picture gallery, that is devoted to vintage Mopar race cars and the awesome folks like Steve's Dad, Ted DeTar, who made them run as well as they did. I only hope that EVERY member here on B.B.D. will spend time looking at this gallery, as Steve, Bill and I continue to add new photographs to it. Richard [attachment deleted by admin]

Born in 1960. I always wish I were about 20 back then. Some of the neighborhood cars I remeber are 68 Charger, 69 Daytona, 70 Challenger, one guy had an open wheel, indy type car with velocity stacks that he reced at a local speedway. Funny that I don't remember any ford or chevy cars. My cars were Hot Wheels and lots of track to race em on. Still have a most of em. I really enjoyed the groovey pics, they were really far out man.

What an awesome post. I grew up in the 60's and I loved it. To bad everyone couldn't have grown up in the 60's. Yes life was much easier and the cars were cooler ! Thanks for all the great pics. And you could actually go to your local track on a Saturday night and see nitro funny cars and Pro Stock. Ron

Here is a car i am proud of.. Its my family's legend... Small but ..to us offspring...it was the basis for almost all of the drag racing stories...that came out of our/My uncle's and my Father this is what started it all... 120" rail ..injected buick aluminum V8. set many national records. et and or mph... Steve Kanuika built the motor.. the car belong to my "Uncle bud" Bud corleto ...and was driven on many occasions by my Real uncle John Fox,, with my dad Jim Fox either helping in the pits ... or Racing his Studebaker Lark in stock class...(and winning i might add) pictire is from "custom Rod magazine" 64-66,ish cheapst.

Awesome Richard!! I LOVE the old days of drag racing even more than today. 200mph was more exciting than 330 mph with todays technology. (Especially the AA Fuel Alterdes)
