Windshield Replacement
« on: February 25, 2007, 09:22:51 PM »

What's the cheapest place to go to for a windshield replacement? Anybody ever try speedy auto glass? I live near seattle, and I need a new windshield for my '71 dart. I'm probably going to sell it soon, so I'm looking to get this done as cheap as possible.

Thanks for any info.

You might luck out at a wrecking yard with a used one.  Darren

Jason, Do you have any junk yards near you.  Down here we have a ton and the standard rate to have a new windshield installed in your car is 100 bucks.  That includes the glass & labor.  It's dirt cheap cause there's a bunch of glass and a lot of guys who are experts at doing it. Almost every junk yard has a glass stall right out front. With that said a 71 Dart might cost a bit more since it's an older car.  A brand new windshield for you car would probably cost 140-180 and if the installer couldn't re-use your seals add another 120. plus their labor.  If you can get it done for under 300. That's a pretty good deal.  Do they have a  Safelite auto glass up there?

Did mine with a some help from a neighbor. It was pretty easy. The seal cost about $129 and I paid a little over $100 for the windshield.......of course this was a few years ago. so prices probably went up a little.
