Looks correct to me. That's the way mine are. If they're on upside down they'd pull the hinge down to the closed position. Something else must be going on. They don't look like modified stockers.

why could'nt you just tell me they are on wrong I know this hood is lighter than the original one,now i'm stuck again on my only day to work on the car this week. It's always the stupid"easy"things that puts a halt to my progress.

you may have to turn the springs more, Mount the springs in the center from the top instead of the bottom and see if you can get a little more tension when you pull the spring around for the second mount. That how mine are mounted.

I looked at it and if i can get electric actuators that are strong enough to hold the hood and small enough to fit inside the fender i might go that route.I need about 5" of throw from closed to open, that means it will require alot of torque from the motor and be strong enough to hold the hood open, anyone have any knowledge about these or a company that i should check out? the silver area is the actuator and i would install a swivel bolt in the hole on the upper arm.you can see how the mounting hole on the arm would stay in line perfectly, will it work? closed: open:

Your springs are on correct.
If you want springs that will work,I do the light weight spring mod for AAR.
I charge $40.00 plus USPS Priorty mail shipping cost and include four push nuts to hold the hinges on the piviot mounts.

i was ready to buy your springs herb, the low tension springs i have from unlimited crap did'nt work so i thought i would try the stock springs just to see how stiff they were before i bought yours, and they don't even hold the hood up.so i don't see how your springs will help at this point ,but I'm up for suggestions as i would prefer to put springs on this and call it done.

... i thought i would try the stock springs just to see how stiff they were before i bought yours, and they don't even hold the hood up That must be one stinkin' heavy glass hood! I mean, the stock steel hood is heavy. What is it and where did you get it?

it's an unlimited crap hood,it's heavy but i'm pretty sure it's lighter than stock, i do have dual scoops on it but that should'nt make a difference.I'll weigh it just to see, anyone know what a stock hood weighs?

West,
Loke Duster440 said, that must be one heavy hood. It was late last night and I had just gotten home from the Indy swap meet and I forgot to ask WHAT kind of hood of was. I missed the part, unti this morning about the stock springs NOT holding it up. If thats the case, My springs won't work either.

mvr's springs are a stock spring, they may have been modified, I can't tell by the photo's.
All of the 67 and up A-Body springs have pretty much the same spring rate althought they may vary in the diameter of the spring.

Looks to me that you need to take them back of and clock them 180 and crank the end around. I think it just needs more spring tension. Dave

I just did mine and they go on pretty tight, I have to wind them around once so they would be tight enough.
