Wheel Studs

I was wondering what brand of studs you recomend, becuse I have to replace the stock studs on my car to fit on the Draglites that I just purched, and I was wondering if one was better then the other? I figured I'd just get the ones that are ment for mopar drum rears correct? And I know it's a stupid question but I was also wondering if they are reusable, i.e. take/press them out of one axle and put them in another?

If you're ordering new axles, I'd get screw in studs.

Not right now, since I might be enlisitng I just wana get the new rims and tires on my car which right now has a 8 1/4 in it, when I get my 8 3/4 cut down I'm getting after market axles with it. So right now it's just to be able to get the new rims on the car and be able to drive it safely.

I run arp 3" studs.  with an open end lug nut for draglites about 1/4" sticks out the end of the lug nut.  Plenty of thread engagement and race legal.

The knurl you need depends on the year and brake configuration of the car.  Year one has a good guide for what stud you need.  Look in their A/C body catalog and search on wheel stud.  The results it pulls should help you find the right one.

At year one they show my car, being a 74, shows the stud having a .673 knurl, the moroso studs at Mancini are either .615 or .685, which ones do i pick up?

If I remember correctly, choose the .685 and then you have take a die grinder or drill bit and open them up to just under and suck them in the rest of the way or remove the axles and press them in. If you open them up to much, they won't grab and cut new splines in the axle flange and then you have to pull the axles and weld them on the back side. Mike

if you buy arp part no 100-7705 they are .680.  I put mine in with no modifications, you are really only talking 7 thousandths difference.

Sounds like the ARP's are the way to go. I used the Moroso twice and had to drill both times. Once on an 8 1/4 and on a B-body 8 3/4. I have to set up another soon, so I will try the ARP's. Learn something new every day. The .615 won't work, too small. Thanks, Mike
