Spring relocation without cutting into the frame? A body

Has anyone used the existing spring mounts and welded them under the rear frame rails instead of cutting into them?

i've heard of that but it raises the rear of the hotrod too much for my tastes.

I just had it done in my 68 Barracuda and it looks great. I had them weld the brackets in the bottom of the frame rail.  It was only 2" higher. ( I thought  Super stock springs are also available with a 2" lift?)   I installed Calvert Racing Mono leafs(Stock Replacement Size) I installed a 30" tall tire with a little cutting on the front part of the fenderwell. Very tight but it looks good. I also had them fabricate frame connectors. The 12 point custom cage is welded to the frame connectors through the floor. I also had the floor modified to accept race seats. Ill post pics next week.
There should be no bouncing of the rear with this set-up. Looks squared and strong. By the way, I kept factory frame rails and had custum mini tubs installed.

you will see a 75 duster drag car that i had, it had the boxes welded to the bottom of the frame. it sat a little high. but if you take a look at the 69 dart that we are currently  building. i have notched the frame rails and have added superstock springs and the rear tires that came off the duster the car sits about as high as the duster. i got the tech info right here on and it was invaluable hope this helps if ya need any info feel free to contact me. OK, just why wouldn't you cut into the frame if you've already added in floor connectors and a cage? most people that don't want to cut their frame to relocate springs just......don't want to cut their frame . I used to be one of those guys, but I'm starting to think that traction might be important too. I think I'll plan it for next winter

are you asking about the front hangers or the rear shackle? on My duster the front hangers were welded to the bottom of frame and the rear had offset shackles, on the 69 dart we cut the frame and used the mopar relocation kit and welded the boxes into the cut part of the frame. and the rear shackles we drilled out the existing frame rail hole ( just like in the Tech pages) of but mopar perf instructions said to weld the tube for the rear shackles to the bottom of the frame rail and make gussets and weld those onto the tubes. either way will work . and the tire size on our dart is 29x12.5x15 and yes we relocated the axle back about 1/2 inch or the distance from the front hole in the perch to the center hole in the leaf spring perch. Pefect fit with room to spare.

Friend of mine has a 69 Cuda which the previous had weld the front sping hangers under the frame, what this does is that it raise the rear of the car and also throws off your positive caster on your front end , this winter we cut the frame and install the boxes.

I decided to use a rear bushing in the rear hanger also.  I can adjust stiffness a bit. I could also install solid aluminum bushings on one side or the other. This was done on my 68 cuda. I acctually had the rear moved back one inch. You cant see in the picture but my roll bar is just above the rear spring hanger.
