how do I get spray paint off my car paint job

I was spraying my engine compartment with some black spray paint and didn't tape off top of fender too good I guess and once I removed the masking tape, there are areas that got some spray paint on it on top of fenders on my car paint job, how can I get this spray paint off my body car paint job without harming my paint job on car , its a clearcoat paint job on car

A good wax with some rubbing should take it off , no problem. And no damage to clear coat either. If that doesnt work, try a toothpaste, yes, I said toothpaste. It does work and does not scratch.

its amazing what just a little toothpaste can do.  lightly abrasive and breaks down as its used.  be sure the surface is very clean before you start, use a very soft lint free cloth (like a diaper) and lay some wax on there afterward.  you'll be plesantly surprised at how well it works for small areas.

Depending on what you have or acess to...You can just use a little rubbing compound on a rag(the kind actually meant for a buffer) and go behind it with a good wax to clean up any swirls.        I have also used this method---BUT PLEASE DO NOT TRY THIS UNLESS YOU ARE VERY FAMILLIAR WITH THE ELEMENTS.I'll take a bit of laquer thinner on a rag(not soaked)and wipe offf the spray paint lightly.It will usually remove about 90% of the spray then you can just use wax to clean it up.But thinner is very dangerous to use if not used right..or if the paint is fresh can cause some problems.But any of the methods listed here will work.You'll get it .Good luck

Bug and tar remover from the parts store worked for me. I've also used polishing compound for the harder stuff; it's less abrasive than rubbing compund...

Clay bar and the liquid spray you use with it, that you can get at any body shop/ automotive paint store is very easy, just wash off the dust and dirt first before you start, and wax after your done with the clay bar.

Man I love that clay. I did the RR, so then I had to do the truck, the wife's car, the Cobra the Olds. 

I bought some higher end stiff fom a Detailing shop but I see Mequiars carries it. It glides on with detail spray like Mohters showtime or Mequiars Final Inspection.

when i srayed my duster i got yellow overspray on my new dodge truck its black i used the clay bar that they sell in the auto pars store it worked great

i detailed bmw's and new dodge chrysler jeeps for 5 years,just gently rub laquer thiner on it its easy and works great.

 be darn sure your paint is hard enough, test a hidden spot first!!!!! to reduce the harshness , pour a little thinner on your rag then spray diluted simple green over your thinner .  its now weaker and remove a ton of stuff
