Haven't tried it, don't know much about it, not in favour of - or against the concept, not trying to offend the purist (re:weld only) - just asking questions. Does anybody have any experience using adhesives to install a quarter panel or a floorpan, and how were the results? Do you think it will stand the test of time? Daryl

Seen one of our bodyshop guys glue on a box side on a 2005 Dakota last month he was using 3M 8116 panel bonding adhesive for non-structural repairs. 1/4 panels and floor pans are structural components and they should be welded in.

you would not believe how much structural adhesive is used in modern mopars. i work in belividere (caliber, compass, patriot). i work in the paint shop, but i've seen the body shop guys "re-roof" cars. there are a few spot welds around the perimeter, but other than that it's structural adhesive. the same holds true for many other structural components as well. it's mainly a combination of welds & adhesive we're riding in.

My Brother Is A Body Man And uses It All The Time For Certain Things But Never On A structural Panel. For Excample If You Glued To Sheets Of Body Metal Together You Could Not Pull Them Apart With Two Cars It Would Tear First But If You Sheared Them Against Each Other They Would Pop Right Apart.

im no body guy, but i did use the fuzor body panel adhesive to hang one of the quarters on my 71 duster. it worked well for me, especially since i used a flange maker to recess the metal. zipped in a few screws to hold it tight. hasnt fell off yet (knock on wood)... i know alot of people dont like this mag, but the latest mopar muscle magazine has an article about doing floorpans with body panel adhesive. im probably going to go that route when i do my pans, since i dont have access to a good welder, nor the skills to use one well. the one thing they dont mention is that the glue is a 2 chemical set up that needs a special gun to apply the 2 parts at the same time. for the fuzor adhesive i used, the applicator gun was running over $300 for some reason. i just so happened to luck out one day at my local napa and catch the fuzor rep at the store and he gave me the gun for free he had kicking around his car, real nice guy... the glue runs about $45 a tube set and it took me a full tube to do my one quarter. good luck!

basically only glue it on if you dont have (or access to ) a weld, otherwise do it right

If the adhesive gun costs $300 and the adhesive is $45 a tube...............Might as well buy a welder

i agree with duster 5-0, for the cost a welder is probably a more useful route. i had gave up on the glue originally, but since the rep gave the gun to me for free, i went with it... i know it sounds like a cheesy route to go, but ive seen the results. alot of body guys are using this stuff instead of welding.

I bought a welder and am learning to weld so I can do floorpans in the 71 and a rear qauarter on the duster. God knows how many other projects I can use it for. I read the article but I wouldn't glue my car.
