You Phoenix guys have all the luxury of finding cars. We don't have squat here in Tucson that could be had.

Haha. Actually, I've actually seen a lot of '67-'69 Darts in Tucson, and there was a pretty sweet looking 440 Barracuda for sale down there about six months ago too. They're out there, the key is: you just have to be quicker than Ed to get 'em

When I'm looking for a car, I run across one great deal about every 3 months or so. And usually don't have the money when that one great deal comes along. Or if you have the money and room, 90% of the time it's already sold in a couple hours or less. So you really have to be fast.
Brother got lucky with this one, we only looked at 5 cars within 2 weeks. Never can find a car in Phoenix, always end up on either end of the valley. Gilbert and Peora/Glendale are the best spots.

I've noticed that as well, a couple cars I've gone to look at were in Sun City, one in Queen Creek, and two were in Glendale. All the ones I've looked at have been turds though. I have been lookin for one just like the one your brother just scored for a year or more. It can definitely be frustrating at times. What are your (or your brother's) plans for the new '67?

Big block, 4 speed a-body's don't come along to often. Actually I don't think I've seen any in the last year or 2. Anyways, bro got all the chrome off it and doing a little filling here and there. Just one small dent up front that I saw. Probable just going to get a maaco paint job, whatever matches what's under the hood. He's thinking about going with some steelies, but wants the same size tire all the way around. Trying to tell him, it's going to look funny with the rear-end jacked up a couple inches.

Ask AZ-Nick where they are in Tucson -- he finds them all the time. You'd be surprised how many he has found and has leads on. They are out there...you just have to look real hard for them. I have a buddy here in Phoenix that knows where a ton are also...just have to be in the right line of work that takes you out on the street day in and day out. They're all over the place.

Yeah, the back end is going to look weird that way, and that car looks like it deserves better than a Maaco jobbie in my humble opinion. Sounds like you guys are getting right into it though. I have a buddy here in Phoenix that knows where a ton are also.
Erhm...

Yeah Mike, where's all these car hiding at? And don't say my back yard.
Maaco's not bad if you do all the prep work. I'll have to ask the paint guys if you can get it without the clear and buff the heck out of it.

They're around...I'm sworn to secrecy. I agree with the Maaco statement. I'm going to get the SSP painted at one about 5 mins from the house. I went and talked with the painter a while back and saw some of the cars that come out of there and they looked pretty nice. I did all the prep on the SSP, so I am just asking them to shoot it. Single stage euro with a shot of clear and I should be right around $1000. I wish I could afford a $5K paint job, but it aint gonna happen. I'll be happy just to see the car with fresh paint, even if it's not a show winner...it's going to be a driver anyways. I'm going to do the same with the B-cuda. Been working on the 400 over the last few days...

Hey Mike, The 400 looks GREAT with it's fresh new orange paint job, air cleaner and timing chain cover my friend! I'm glad those parts went to a good home, as they were all just sitting in my storage shed's dreaming about going into a new home! The 400 ran great in my Coronet, so I hope it treats you and your son well also. Now all you need to do, is come pick out one of the new torque converters that I have sitting on my shelves!!! Richard, you going to open a parts store, wow.
My dad has a early 50's 4 door and took it to some independent shops, cheapest one was $4,500. If I lived out in the sticks, I'd start painting myself.

Hey Ed, I'd like to have a "going out of business" sale, as I have lots of parts that I will never use and that I don't need for my Coronet, or my sons Dart. I need to find new homes for some of it with folks like you, Josh, Mike and other folks. Some of the parts are to heavy to ship, so I need to find local folks for things like cranks, intake manifolds, torque converters ect. Let me know if you or your brother need anything and we can set up a time for you to come over and look at things. Josh, I KNOW your reading this, so YES.you are invited to come over also ok? As far as independent body shops painting your brothers new Barracuda goes, MOST of them charge the prices they do, to scare you off, as they REALLY don't want to do complete paint work anymore, as it ties them up for to long and they usually end up losing money on the deal. They like insurance work much better, as they can move more cars through their shop and they don't have the problems of trying to find and buy parts for 40 year old cars. That might be why the previous owner of your brothers Barracuda decided to sell the car, rather that to have to invest another 7 to 10K on a quality paint job. Richard

Everything is cool Allen, just got to figure out all the projects and get at least one of them done and out of the way. Got my parents visiting for a long weekend today, so I'm tied-up till next week. Got to put the old man to work and help with the cars, ha.
