Steve. Yup, the Doobies were there too.  Funny thing is I listened to my two older kids music all through their lives and ejoyed it. I still listen to new music and love it.  When I really want to be young again I listen to the Led Zeppelin.   When I want to get motivated I listen to old Green day.

I graduated from High school in 1973 and was eating lots of Big Mac's and triple ripple ice cream cones at Mickey D's.  My favorite movies that year were American Graffiti and Aloha Bobby & Rose that had my favorite actor Paul LeMat in them. I was planning on going to California with a buddy of mine to try and get a progressive rock / jazz band  similar to Blood, Sweat & Tears together and get into the music business. I was driving a light yellow with black interior 1967 Mustang fastback with a 427 dual carbed Shelby big block engine, 4 speed and a Ford 9" rear end with 4.11 gears. I was into jazz, heavy metal, rock and just about anything but country music. Never did go to CA or get the band together because of medical issues, so I ended up in the banking trade for 32 years until retiring back in 2004. I'm still into fast cars and all kinds of music and my son is now trying to get a band together and get into the music business, so I guess that it's all been good!  Cool Grin

Jazz Richard. Yes I was into that in the early 80's when fusion Jazz was in.  I ended up liking the old masters such as Grover Washington and Oscar Peterson. (sp)  We all said we were going to get out of town when we were kids.  I did and never looked back until a few years ago.  My short life has moved too quickly and I'm aiming what's left of it to spend time back where I always wanted to leave and dearly miss now.

agree  It is really amazing how a person's perspective on life changes over their life.  Things that were SO important at age 20, don't seem to be nearly as important at age 50. At age 20, YOU have the WORLD by the balls, at age 50, the WORLD has YOU by the balls and you just start thinking about what's left to do that's REALLY important before you run out of time......

Me too, I was only 4.  I was most likely watching the Superfriends and all the classic commercials like "I'm only a bill" and "Conjunction Junction".

I was 11 years old, but had an older brother.  We wore that Machine Head album out!  I can still hear it popping and crackling.

4 finger bags for $20 that were full of brown Mexican ditch weed.  You used to have to smoke so much you didn't know if you were getting high or just asphyxiated from the lack of oxygen.  Ah, those were the days.

I was jumping out of perfectly good airplanes for Uncle Sam.
It was a strange kind of time for me.
Wasn't quite sure if the world would survive.
Never done a drug in my life...
Got high on life.
22years 10 months later, I retired from the Army.
LIFE is good.

Oh yea the world did survive.......

In March of 73?  Let me see if I can remember....Hummmmm...I was 22 ...I know I was drivin around in my 69 1/2 Cougar Eliminator, I'd been married 2 years, we were building a new garage at the house we bought so the engine assembly could move out of my kitchen and into a place of it's own, He was just getting into building a 67 cuda for the strip, that's when the racing started, then he moved onto his 71 Duster SS/IA car.  I was working as a hair stylist back then, one thing I remember was guys from the airbase where the EX worked were coming to me to get perms, tight ones so they could have Afro hair styles cause afro's as long as they didn't lay on your neck were accepted as military haircuts, the guys were trying to buck the military's rules on proper hair length... Frustrated...Whatelse?  Listened to a lot of Credence Clearwater, the Stones, Jethro Tull....etc....I was making Sandcast Candles and leather Peace signs along with some Macrame wall art and selling them at craft shows as a hobby... \/][...Never smoked weed until I was in my 30's, just wasn't into that scene.  Lots of people were overdosing on drugs, and fleeing to Canada to avoid the draft...Boy, those were some memorable times.... drinks
