How To Axle Bearing Retainer Without Ruining The Bearing?

Is there a way to remove the axle bearing retainer at home without ruining the bearing it self? I need to replace the adjuster, but I have new a bearing on the axle and don't want to mess up the bearing.

I have managedto get the bearing off and resued it but neve the lock ring ... you will have to swell the lock ring and toss it the use a bearign seperator and pres to get the bearign off ...  I reall like the green bearings with the removable retainer plates .. eliminates all that hassel ... good luck
