I bought a set of truck manifolds off ebay, thinking that the driver side manifold may work in my 65 440 Valiant. My passenger side is taken care of already, and the driver looks raised and similar to an HP manifold...has anybody tried using this manifold?

The auction said he didn't know what they were from, but I looked up the numbers and it stated they were from a B/RB truck ( 4041468-0 and 3830800 are the #'s).

Hi, Those manifolds look very similar to to HP manifolds I bought. You need to pull the steering column out & see how they fit. You'll probably have a clearance problem between the manifold & steering shaft. I ended up buying a double universal joint for the steering shaft from Framing River Industries. I needed to find a half inch clearance between the steering shaft & exhaust manifold & the U joint did the trick. I have a 1964 Dart so your car should be almost the same setup. The U joint cost $180.00 but it worked out good. Good Luck Jim

I fit the engine in with the log manifold I had on the passenger side and it clears easily. The driverside has a tab on the block that looks like it needs to be ground away to clear the steering box. Anyone dealt with that? It looks like the driverside manifold may clear, but I haven't recieved it yet so I'll find out in a week or so.

Hi, I'm not setup on to post any pictures. I couldn't figure out what needed to be done for that. But I'd also need to barrow my daughter's camera & take a few pic's. If I get some pic's maybe I could E-mail the to you. Let me know what you think. Good Luck Jim

You can post pictures as an attatchment when you post a topic or reply, but they have to be a limited size. The best thing to do is open an account at http://photobucket.com/ ( for free ) and upload your pictures to their site. Then select the third link ( img file ) under the picture, copy and paste it in your topic/reply and the image will come up on !

Hi Everyone, The Dart is coming together pretty well now. But it still needs quite a bit of work. The one picture is of the double universal joint I needed to make the HP manifold fit & work with the steering shaft. This joint saved my butt. Jim

Nice ride Jim, can you give us some specs on your combination?
Also can you add your pics or link to the Big Block Early A under construction thread? It would be cool to have a collection of projects in one thread.
Thanks, Mike

Hi Everyone, My Dart has a 530 HP stroker 383. I went with the 440 Source kit. Its now a 432 C.I. engine with Eddy heads & a Comp. Cams hydralic roller cam about 550" lift. The rear end is a narrowed station wagon 8.75 with 3:90 gears & a sure grip posi. The trans is a Cope Racing rebuilt 727 with full manual reverse valve body & a Dynamic 9.5 torque converter. I bought the car already painted but the previous owner said it was B7 / Jamaica Blue. Its suppose to be a Mopar color. I still have a lot of work to do before I can fire it up & see what it does on the street. Maybe I'll post a video once its running. Nothing like a Jim

I believe they will not fit either, the big trouble spot is the location of the steering box, all the 3,5 tubes need to go up and over the steering box, no chance of having them dive under the box as in all the rest of the applications, there is just no room. I believe the best 2 options are HP manifolds as the driver looks like it was made for our app with the steering shaft notch. It works even better if you angle mill the face about 5 degrees to get them to hug the block even more. Or Pro-Parts semi fenderwell headers. Nothing else comes close to the design of these 2 items for a big block in a early A. Ill post a few pics of mine tonight. A 440 is easier to use manifolds on because it sits a bit higher over the shock towers, but a 400 is narrower, both have their advantages.

I've got a set of these '1464(pass), and '0800(dr) manifolds. Did anyone ever find out if they were truck? Anyone use these successfully to drop a big block into an A body? The one on the drivers' side in the pics, doesn't appear to be this part #.
