thinkin about stripes
« on: April 22, 2007, 05:09:38 PM »

i have tried a few different combinations,i think i like it this way best.
what do you guys think?what about it's size and placement?
should it be thinner? fatter? further forward?
i really regret not shaving the sidemarkers.

this one is moved forward a little, which looks better?

I don't know how much room you have allowable to move it around, but i think it would be nice if you could move it forward and out from behind the marker light. It would give it the full effect. If you only have those two optoins i would pick the second one,but make sure the middle stripe clears the light.Stripe  itself looks great.

Look at the 70 dart rear stripe the way its angled to match the back of the car.  That would be my choice.

I agree, I'd like to see it angled and the center part needs to be wider....

I don't care for the 70 stripe that is angled, one reason why i'm painting it and not going with a decal is to be a little different.
i'll make one wider and see how it looks.
I appreciate everyones opinion, keep em comin'

I don't think the straight stripe looks right on the 70 back end, either. I think something like the 71 Demon side stripe would look good, though.

My opinion would be to angle the stripe, I read where you said you dont want that, then I would make the center stripe wider.

you could also try angling the rear stripe, keeping the front stripe straight verticle and tapering the center stripe small on top to a little larger on the bottom to match both front and rear. (just a dumb suggestion but different)

Try it first with vinyl, cheap & you can remove it if you don't like it. I agree it needs to be moved forward more, it's too close to the upper body seam.

Here's some pictures of the custom stripe that's painted on my son's 72 Swinger.
