Some frame connectors are square, some are rectangular, some are tubular, & others are twin-tubular. Pros & Cons among these choices? Thanks in advance!

Square or rectangular is the most probable choice due to its shape, less likely to twist or bend.

I checked out the Pre-fab's, and figured I could build a better set, cheaper, and stronger. 2 x 3 x 3/16" rectangular steel is less than $60 for a 10 Foot length. check out the Tech pages, a great article on how to....

usually people would just use what they have laying around, most use rectangular just because it looks like a factory framerail

Most use the 2" x 3" because it ties into the factory sub frame with ease

I saw a photo in one of the Mopar mags that showed a famous race car that had driveshafts welded in for subframes.

3/16 is really excessive dont you think. we use 1/8 on all the cars we build at the shop i work at.

Your probably right, and if had it do all over again would have opt'd for the 1/8 thinner material. Alot easier to work with

never have to worry about them warping or twisting! but I agree, maybe a little overkill, but heck, it wont hurt anything.

Question on this subject. I am using the Mopar made units on the 64 Dart. They are offset on the rear part that stradles the frame. Which side of the offset is the right and which is the left?
I mean does the offset of the box in the rear face to the inside of the under body?
thanks!

yeah, Ive heard good things about those laser cut ones, but from my understanding they arent as 'precise' a fit as you might think due to variations from car to car. but if you were really really trying to build a super sleeper, that might be a nice way to go.
I ended up snagging some magnumforce bolt ons for cheap. theyre the two round tube kind. sure as hell seem plenty stiff and should fit pretty good.

Tacfire, that is basically how I am planning to do mine, however, I am going to cut the 1/2 inch section out and weld the top plate back on to box it.

I just spoke to them yesterday about their laser cut A body sub-frame connectors and they are now available for $169 a pair. I'm ordering mine next week.

Mine are rectangular. They came with the car when I bought it. I had to lengthen them though. They were a little short.

which a bodies are they going to be avalible for? hopefully the 108 cars They said they would fit my '71 Duster, I'm not sure there is a difference on A body subframe connectors. I'm going to go ahead and call them tomorrow and order mine. I'll ask that question and let you know what they said.

Qlcude, that's a great idea . I did the 1" tube inside the connector to prevent any flex, but your idea is much better....

Here is what US Car Tool told me. They have one part number for the laser cut sub frame connectors for '70 to '76 A bodys, 108" and 111" wheel base. There is just a little extra material and the back end of the connector where it overlaps onto the rear frame rails that may need to be removed on a 108" car. The profile of the floor pans are the same on both types, they are just a little longer at the back end. The earlier A body sub frame connectors are in the works and they hope to have them in stock in a couple of months. I ordered mine today and should be here in a week. COOL!
