If you're car runs in the 14's are you sure you need slicks? They might even slow you down on the top end. You don't need a helmet if you're in the 14's, but I would get one anyway.

I bought a pair of slicks for my 89 mustang that was running low 13's, the slicks slowed me down 3/10, I did not have enough gear. I would get drag radials first, especially for a car not running faster than 13.0's

As long as you can see some depth left under the hole and see how even the slick looks across and around. Sometimes they will wear real uneven. As for the wheels make sure the lug holes are round and not ovaled out and same for the holes for the rim scews, see if they are tight in the wheels.

I have too much gear right now. 4.56's The slicks are 29.5 tall. I am hoping to cut some gearing. They are not alot of money $100 on cop wheals 15x8. The street tire I have on it suck. I was planning on drag et radials, but these happened by. Should I go for them or just wait for new radials. My thinkibng is for $200 plus $$ cheaper than new, what do I have to loose. Does this make any sense?

I guess it makes sense, but I would get the drag radials. The hundred you spend on the slicks is 100 bucks further away from the radials.

If you want to go to the track and have some fun 100.00is pretty cheap fun. Just put em on for the track use. That tall tire will knock the rpm down quite a bit for you. Do you have room for a 29 1/2 under your car?. Good Luck, have fun. Ed K

Used? Your life is worth more than the few dollars you are saving.A rear blow out at 80mph can get hairy.Combine that with a roll over,YIKES!

never buy race tires new- slicks are too heavy and unneeded for a 14 second car now, but the main thing with slicks is the diameter, if your going that slow now, your could get away with a shorter slick, and still get good traction but not hurt your acceleration that much
