2003 Ram 1500,
« on: May 06, 2007, 07:01:21 PM »

I own a 03 dodge ram 1500. It has a factory trailer plug on it and only one side works. I tried to take it off to get another one but as soon as I cut the old one off the truck would not start. Whats the deal? and has anyone else had this problem? How do I fix this?

Maybe it's possible when you cut the harness that you blew a fuse , did you check all the fuses ? Usually the plug has a 12 volt feed  to the trailer

That year and mine (2004) and I'm sure other factory tow preps have its own fused circuits located in the box in the engine compartment on the drivers side. I would start pulling some minis out and start there.

I was told that it makes the computer circuit open when I cut and when I hooked it back up it closed it then the truck start right up.
