Neutral safety switch- 2 pin to 3 pin
« on: May 07, 2007, 11:37:24 PM »

I have the three pin neutral safety switch in my transmission and my wiring harness has remnants of what looks like its for a 2 pin switch. Can someone post, (again) what the three pins do on the switch?

Thanks!

I think you may find that the two pin was for a manual trans (sans neutral safety switch) and the 3 pin was for an auto.
center is neutral safety.  the other two control back up lights I believe.

couldnt swear to it, but I seem to remember that being the case.

Autos had either a single pin (68-earlier) or three-pin (69-later). The  switches are not interchangeable without swapping out the comb in the transmission. The outer pins on the three-pin is for the backup lights. The two-pin switch is the backup light switch for a manual transmission.
