Rocky Mountain dash
« on: May 10, 2007, 06:18:02 PM »

I just ordered a dash for my Cuda. Cool people easy to work with. I tried to get a 50% discount but Mike would not give, what the hell. Somthing about wanting to pay his bills. Oh well I did it anyway.
I bought the A10- model.

Well, I'm right behind you then Smiley I've fitted it to the dash and am painting it right now. The gauges are sitting on my dining room table.

Looks very nice!  The thought had crossed my mind to get one, but the cost was a bit out of my range.  I opted for a plastic insert from www.redlinegauges.com and I drilled the holes for the gauges - doesn't look bad!

Here's a question about the stock ammeter gauge.  Can the two wires on the back of the ammeter be spliced together after removal of the dash?  The car has no power without the wires being connected to the gauge, so I'm thinking that they complete a circuit through the ammeter.

Will he mount the Gauges as well, or is it just the Dash mounting....  checked out the site... I like the clean dash layout.

How do the new gauges tie into the legacy sensors like Fuel, Oil Pressure, and Voltage?  Any suggestions...

Thanks.....

The best way to anwser this is. When you buy your gauges look into what you car has for sending units and buy ones that work for it. I am rewiring my complete car. To the best on my knowledge Mike does not put in the gauges. He might if the mony is right. But installing the gauges is easy part.

We don't install gauges, because we don't sell gauges.  Installing them is pretty simple, the gauge panels are made to work with the mounting brackets that come with the gauge (as long as the gauge isn't a column mount unit).

I suggest using the sending units that come with the guages!!!  I need to swap out the Temp sending unit for teh new one, because for some reason after a few secs of running the gauge will jump to 250 which i know damn well i ain't that hot!

What is not also seen in the pic on my site is the indicator lights below my fuel guage. 2 greens and 1 blue.

to answer your question, yes you need to hook the two wire together, think of electricity like water, the ammeter is just a flow gauge and how is the water going to flow through if they arnt connected
