A number of AR Torq-thrust wheel models are on national backorder. So I ordered a set 16" V45's from Vintage Wheel Works that look just like Torq-thrust D's at about the same price. They actually have a broader range of sizes and backspaciings than AR. Anyway, I got them today and test fit one only to find that they use the Ford centerbore. It interferes with the disc brake hub. Grrrrr!
Changing the front to Wilwoods isn't an option. And using spacers - aside from the hassle - will screw up my backspacing. So, I either have to open the wheel centers up (which makes me nervous), turn the disc brake hubs down .10" to .20", or return everything and start over.
Thoughts?

Turning the inside of the rim is a common thing to have done. Most types of rims can be opened up that amount safely.

There's plenty of material at the wheel center. It's a matter of finding a machinest who can do it. More time and money....  |

oh it never ends.. anyone with a bridgeport machine should be able to do it.. if you can't find anyone local give Tim at Wheel Works a call.. i know he can do it.. was gonna do my wheels but the center ended up being open enough...

Have you measured how much difference? I used a die grinder to trim down a lip inside a ford wheel once to fit the mopar hub. |

Well, we spent about an hour at my friends house (who has a Bridgeport machine in his shop!) opening up the centers to fit over mopar disk brake hubs. That's a load off. I'll owe him....
And my RMD getting some paint earlier today - but that's a whole other story.
