« on: May 12, 2007, 12:50:12 PM »

I am a proud owner of an Alterktion front end.
Just got it yesterday.
Unpacked it and laid it all out on a table.
Everything looks awesome.
Thank you Mr.Reilly for a great product.

Abodyjoe,
do you have a picture of yours?
mine looks different than the one on the website.
Maybe Bill needs to put some pics of the newer version on his website.

Finally got my Alterktion front end powder coated
and put on the car.
It looks good.
Just a suggestion to Bill.
Maybe you could update your pictures and the instructions
because mine looked different and had different pieces in the
kit than shows in the instructions and on your website.
(not complaining, it is awesome...)
No pictures yet.

so bill went with the bent tube instead of miter cut? sounds good i always thought that one stupid thing would help steal more magnumforce buyers. that is the one thing they have, it looks cooler and we know how many people are out there that would buy a product because it looks better. now i want to see pics of the new improved version.

Yea it looks much nicer now, especially the view when you look under the front bumper - the bent bar was pretty much the cherry on the cake.

The instructions... I know LOL  It needs a serious updating, as does the website. I'll get there Smiley

You think it looks good as you unpack it, just wait till you take her for a drive. It not only looks good but it makes you think you have a whole new car. I like the new changes too. As far as not looking as cool as the Magnum force, i don't know agree. When I was researching front ends and I saw the Alter-K  I thought it look meaner and stronger. I never had any doubt which one I wanted.

I too never had any doubt about which front suspension I wanted to go with.  However, if there was one thing I would have suggested for improving it, it's the mitered cross bar underneath.  A "bent", square tube looks the most "automotive" to me.  The mitered look underneath, especially when I see a picture of a car doing a wheelie with an AlterK, just didn't look right.   That bent square tube is the cat's meow, the icing on the cake, the, the, the, well, you get the idea.   Makes it the perfect kit in my opinion.  Way to go Bill, you've reached "perfection" !

What's the deal with the tow loop option on the AlterKtion?  Those of you that are running an AlterK, where is it located?  Does it hinder the appearance any?

thanks,

Chuck

not trying to start anything but if you own a magnum junk front end i feel sorry for you lol. i seen a dart at the track come down from a wheelie and the fender hit the hood so hard it broke the glass hood. i have come down from hundreds of wheelie with bills front end and the only problem i had is i broke a rim. great stuff bill.

I told you guys that would happen.....Cheap imitations suck and I, for one, will not trust my life with anything but the best. Thanks Bill!!!!

Here's a pic of mine with a tow hook, probably won't ever use it, but if I need it, it's there.

Birdboy, I'm sorry to year that you broke a wheel after a wheel stand, but I must say that this is quite an endorsement for the Alter-K.  I've searched around for various suspension components and have been most impressed by Bill's setup, but to be frank have always been a bit concerned about overall durability.  Knowing that the Alter-K is literally stronger than the wheels bolted to it helps raise my confidence in the product.

My only other conern is over the use of heim joints, instead of bushings for the upper control arms.  My concerns are not about strength, heim joints are plenty strong but about noise and vibration since they don't give at all and are not lubricated.  I'd like to hear from a couple of you with them on running street cars about your experiences.

Finally, mopar-addiction that is one of the most beautiful engine compartments I've ever seen.  Your cleaning, preparation, and painting skills are to be commended. Cheers

Regards

joe-dokes i can't help you on the noise of the frontend because it's hard to hear anything over my engine. but i can tell you that at 180mph bills frontend is wonderful, tight, no bump steer, and i feel very safe with it. i'm sure there are guys that can help with the noise question. i'm pretty new here but there are alot of very nice cars that i'm sure wouldn't run bills stuff if it wasn't perfect. jmo

JoeDokes,
I have Bill's AlterK in my 69 'cuda.   It's not on the road yet, so I can't speak for how it feels and handles.  However, mine will mainly be a street vehicle, so I went with the polyurethane bushings.   They're VERY nicely done.  The bushing comes pressed in a real nice polished stainless joint.  I forget who makes it, but it's a good name brand.  I also don't remember whether it was the standard or optional choice.  Actually, I think it may have been an either/or choice.  I'm real happy with my kit...

Birdboy-- It's nice to hear that you have such faith in Bill's system.  If the system holds up to 180 mph and wheel stands than I feel very confident that it will handle a street driven dart that might see 140 if I'm lucky.

CudaSRT8-- I'm glad to hear that polyurethan bushings are available, I think they are better suited for a street driven car.

Thanks for the information.

joe there's a guy at the track by me that has a dart with bills kit and that car goes on the rear bumper all the time. if he hasn't busted the hell out of it i don't think any of us will. it might be someone around here i don't know he but it's a blue 69 with a smallblock on spray. good luck with the build.
